Fortnite is once again hosting an in-game version of The Game Awards, inviting players to cast their votes for their top creator-developed islands.
The special event, dubbed The Game Awards Vote in Fortnite, enables players to explore a variety of nominated islands, spanning genres such as MMOs, escape rooms, and roguelikes. Voting is available in-game until 9 p.m. ET on December 11, the eve of the awards show. To join in, players can use the island code 0853-1358-8532.
This edition of Fortnite also offers players the chance to fight in an arena for currency. Additionally, players will encounter an Unreal Engine-rendered Geoff Keighley, the host of The Game Awards.
In a recent official Epic Games blog, Keighley expressed his excitement about being recreated in Fortnite through MetaHuman technology in Unreal Engine. This framework is designed to help developers create lifelike human characters in under an hour. Featuring a cloud-based app with character creation capabilities, multiple presets, and animation options, Keighley’s likeness was captured using green screen technology. You can check out the results in the video below, but we think we might prefer the real deal for now.
