As the clock ticks down in the teaser for The Life of Chuck, anticipation builds for the film adaptation of Stephen King’s 2020 short story.
Tom Hiddleston takes on the role of Charles “Chuck” Krantz, the main character around whom the narrative revolves. The film unfolds in three segments presented in reverse chronological order. In the teaser, we see Chuck, an everyday man, strolling down the street. The scene shifts rapidly from a smiling Chuck to glimpses of younger versions of himself.
“The universe is vast, filled with countless beings, but it also holds me,” a voiceover intones before the teaser concludes.
Alongside Hiddleston, the film boasts a stellar cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor, Annalise Basso, Benjamin Pajak, Karen Gillan, Mia Sara, Matthew Lillard, Carl Lumbly, Samantha Sloyan, Harvey Guillén, Jacob Tremblay, Kate Siegel, and Mark Hamill. Nick Offerman serves as the narrator for the film.
Directed and written by horror icon Mike Flanagan, The Life of Chuck is produced by Flanagan alongside his collaborator Trevor Macy of Intrepid Pictures.

Flanagan is no stranger to adapting King’s works; he previously brought to the screen Gerald’s Game and Doctor Sleep. He is also slated to adapt two more of King’s novels, The Dark Tower and Carrie, for Amazon MGM Studios. Though Flanagan and King are typically associated with horror, The Life of Chuck offers a different narrative experience.
The film had its premiere at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, where it received the People’s Choice Award. Neon, the distributor behind last year’s Best Picture winner Anora, is set to release Flanagan’s film.
The Life of Chuck is scheduled to hit theaters on June 6, 2025.
