The integration of AI into the iPhone was met with significant expectations, especially among analysts and investors, perhaps more so than by the everyday user. Apple has infused AI capabilities throughout several core applications that characterize the iPhone experience, including Mail, Photos, Safari, notifications, and Notes, among others.
However, these modifications have not met with universal approval. Many users are expressing their discontent on platforms like Reddit, particularly regarding the redesign of the Photos app. The Mail app is similarly facing criticism, with users voicing frustrations over the new categorization system that organizes emails into various groups.
Thanks to these changes, users have found themselves yearning for the straightforwardness of viewing all their emails chronologically. The added complexity now requires users to click on category tabs at the top of their Mail app to find specific email types, divided into primary, transactional, and update categories.
“This was unnecessary, and no one wanted it,” declared one disgruntled user. Numerous others have reported that the categorization in Mail is frequently inaccurate and that the read/unread markers seem to fluctuate unexpectedly.
