Amazon has officially taken the reins of the James Bond franchise. The next step involves securing producers who will guide 007 into this new chapter under Amazon’s banner.
According to Matt Belloni at Puck, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are in discussions to lead the revitalization of James Bond for Amazon MGM Studios. Although nothing is finalized pending the agreement with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, Pascal and Heyman are reportedly the frontrunners favored by Amazon executives.
Pascal brings a wealth of experience from managing successful franchises, most notably producing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man films, which have collectively earned nearly $4 billion globally. During her tenure at Sony, she also played an instrumental role in overseeing several of Daniel Craig’s Bond films, including Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre.
Meanwhile, Heyman has a strong legacy in film, having produced the entire Harry Potter series through his HeyDay Films. He has also been behind recent blockbusters like Wonka and Barbie, with the latter becoming the top-grossing film of 2023.

Belloni also mentions that Amazon MGM Studios intends to launch the next Bond film in theaters before exploring any spin-offs or television adaptations.
Should Pascal and Heyman come on board, the next important task will be to find a director and a writer for the upcoming 007 film. Christopher Nolan is often noted as a potential candidate, although his commitment to the project is still uncertain.
After acquiring MGM in 2022, Amazon secured creative control of Bond last month through a landmark agreement, reportedly paying $1 billion to Broccoli and Wilson for these rights.
With the iconic character now under its umbrella, Amazon faces considerable expectations to successfully reinvigorate the Bond franchise and guide it into the future.
