Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi accused the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday of actively participating in the U.S.-Israeli efforts against Iran. During a speech at a BRICS summit in India, Araqchi stated, “UAE is a key partner in this aggression, and there’s no denying it.” He also referenced an alleged secret meeting in the UAE during Israel’s conflict with Iran, which Abu Dhabi has denied occurring.
Araqchi emphasized, “Iran directly blames the UAE for involvement in the strikes on our territory. When hostilities began, they not only refused to condemn the attacks but may have even been complicit.” Tensions have worsened since February 28, when Iran responded to Israeli and U.S. strikes with retaliatory actions in the Gulf region, including attacks on the UAE. A fragile ceasefire has persisted since April 8.
Iran consistently accuses Gulf countries of permitting U.S. military operations on their soil, allegations that Gulf nations deny, asserting they won’t allow their territories to be used for attacks against Iran. Iranian state media have aired analysts suggesting possible UAE participation, and earlier this month, the UAE pointed the finger at Iran for a drone attack on an energy facility in Fujairah, an accusation Iran has rejected.
