The carrier rocket launched eight high-resolution optical remote sensing satellites into their designated orbit today, marking the beginning of scheduled launch services by a Chinese aerospace company. The mission was carried out from the Dongfeng Commercial Space Innovation Test Zone at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwestern Gansu province. This is the 12th mission for the Kinetica-1 rocket series, which has previously delivered a total of 92 satellites into space.

This launch primarily targets the microsatellite market, enabling large-scale deployment through innovative technology and standardized design. The company behind the project was incubated by the Institute of Mechanics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Notably, it previously set a record by launching 26 satellites with a single rocket.

The Kinetica-1 is equipped with multiple universal satellite brackets capable of carrying satellites of varying sizes simultaneously. It employs cutting-edge technologies such as online orbital maneuvering, customizable separation configurations, and high-precision separation systems to accommodate different orbital needs.

Mass production of the rocket has already started, achieved by modularizing components for independent manufacturing, then reassembling them. The process is supported by digital management systems and automated equipment, allowing the company to produce over 10 rockets annually, with the potential to increase capacity to 30 in the future.

Founded in 2018, the company has developed two main types of carrier rockets: Kinetica-1 and Kinetica-2. The latter, which completed its first flight last month, features a versatile design that can incorporate zero, two, or four strap-on boosters to fulfill various payload requirements.
