The landscape of realistic, competitive FPS games is largely shaped by a select few franchises. For over a decade, Call of Duty has become the emblem of multiplayer shooters, while Battlefield once stood as a formidable contender. Unlike CoD, a new Battlefield title isn't released each year, which keeps it from being a constant topic of discussion outside of its dedicated community. Following the generally poor reception of its last installment, fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of a new title, akin to the rebirth seen with Onimusha: Way of the Sword or Perfect Dark. Although we've only received a minor tease regarding what's next, here's a comprehensive overview of everything we know about what we're referring to as Battlefield 6.
Release Speculation

It's clear that EA and Battlefield Studios are preparing for player participation in several playtests for Battlefield 6 through the Battlefield Labs initiative. However, it has been emphasized that when these tests commence, the game will still be in a pre-alpha phase. The duration a game remains in pre-alpha can differ, but it's reasonable to anticipate Battlefield 6 may not release for another two years.
Platforms
Based on the platforms selected for testing Battlefield 6, we can expect it to debut on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Depending on the progression of development, it could potentially be cross-generational with the PS6, though that is purely conjecture at this point.

Trailers
While EA hasn’t released a formal trailer for Battlefield 6, they did offer a brief glimpse during the announcement of Battlefield Labs. The pre-alpha footage seems to be set in modern times, contrasting with the historical or near-future themes of past entries. The setting may hint at a location within the Middle East, although it’s challenging to make definitive claims at this time.
Gameplay

The pre-alpha footage is quick-paced, yet it showcases many elements fans hope to see in Battlefield 6.
It features intense combat in urban settings complete with tanks and numerous soldiers engaged in battle, alongside the series' hallmark dynamic destruction. Explosions scatter debris, generate smoke clouds, and can even bring down parts of buildings.
Although we only catch glimpses of a rifle and an RPG, the absence of vehicle gameplay suggests they will ultimately be included, as no Battlefield title would feel complete without a diverse array of weapons and vehicles to control.
Preorder
As Battlefield 6 hasn’t been officially confirmed or announced, there are currently no preorder details available. We will keep you updated with more information as it develops.
