RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has unveiled a new artificial intelligence firm named HUMAIN, coinciding with the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump to the kingdom.
This company is a key component of Riyadh’s strategy to assert its leadership in AI and enhance its forward-looking economy.
The Public Investment Fund (PIF) announced that its chairman, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, launched HUMAIN to “operate and invest throughout the artificial intelligence value chain.”
This announcement comes just before Trump’s arrival as part of his Gulf tour, during which AI is expected to feature prominently at a joint Saudi-U.S. investment forum in Riyadh.
According to the PIF, HUMAIN will offer a diverse range of AI services, products, and tools.
“The company will also introduce one of the world’s most advanced multimodal Arabic large language models (LLMs),” the statement detailed.
Saudi Arabia aims to position itself as a global leader in the AI sector, a field currently dominated by the United States.
This technology is a focal point of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious “Vision 2030” reform initiative, which seeks to diversify the economy of the world’s largest oil exporter in anticipation of a future less reliant on oil.
Among an array of high-profile projects is NEOM — a substantial $500 billion futuristic city in the desert — along with hosting the 2034 football World Cup and developing a major new airport in Riyadh.
