If you’re trying to connect your Hewlett Packard (HP) printer to your Wi-Fi network and it’s not working, don’t worry. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to help you get your printer online and ready to print from your computer or mobile device.
First, make sure your Wi-Fi is working properly. Check that your Wi-Fi router is on and that other devices can connect to the internet without issues. Once confirmed, turn on your HP printer and make sure it’s ready.
Next, locate the control panel on your printer. If your printer has a touchscreen, use it to navigate to the wireless settings menu. If it doesn’t, there should be a wireless or Wi-Fi button you can press. Press the button or select the menu option for wireless setup.
Most HP printers have an option to connect through Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). If your Wi-Fi router supports WPS, press the WPS button on your router, then select the WPS option on your printer within a couple of minutes. Your printer should connect automatically.
If WPS isn’t an option or doesn’t work, manually connect your printer to your Wi-Fi network. On your printer’s menu, select your network name (SSID) from the list of available networks. Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted. Make sure you type the password carefully, respecting uppercase and lowercase letters.
Once your printer connects to Wi-Fi, print a network configuration page. This page will confirm your printer’s IP address and network status. You can usually find the option to print this report in the wireless or settings menu.
Finally, make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer. Download and install the latest drivers or the HP Smart app from the official HP website if needed. Follow the app’s instructions to add your printer.
If your printer still isn’t connecting, restarting both the printer and the router can help. Also, double-check that you’re entering the correct Wi-Fi password and that your network isn’t blocking new devices. Sometimes, resetting the network settings on your printer and trying again can resolve lingering issues.
With these simple steps, you should be able to connect your HP printer to Wi-Fi smoothly. Once connected, you’ll be able to print wirelessly from any device on your network.
