If your computer keeps waking up right after hibernation, it’s likely not a driver problem. Instead, the issue usually comes from your system being triggered to wake up by something like a USB device, network activity, or certain BIOS settings.
Here’s how you can fix this problem:
First, you want to prevent your system from waking itself up. To do this:
1. Go to your Windows Settings.
2. Open the Power & Sleep section.
3. Find and click on Additional Power Settings.
4. Click on Change plan settings for your current power plan.
5. Select Change advanced power settings.
6. Scroll to Sleep, expand it, and then expand Allow wake timers.
7. Set this to Disabled.
Next, disable wake sources like network and USB devices:
– For USB devices:
1. Open Device Manager.
2. Find your USB controllers under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
3. Right-click each USB device, select Properties.
4. Go to the Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck ‘Allow this device to wake the computer’.
– For network:
1. Open Device Manager.
2. Locate your network adapter.
3. Right-click, choose Properties.
4. Go to the Power Management tab.
5. Uncheck ‘Allow this device to wake the computer’.
Then, check your BIOS settings:
– Restart your computer and enter BIOS setup (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Delete during startup).
– Look for Wake-on-LAN or Wake-on-USB options.
– Disable these options if they are enabled.
– Also, find the “Restore after Power Loss” setting and turn it off.
Finally, disable Fast Startup in Windows:
1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
2. Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
3. Select Change settings that are currently unavailable.
4. Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended).
5. Save changes.
After doing all these steps, your computer should no longer wake up by itself after hibernating. These tweaks stop unnecessary wake-up triggers and should keep your PC sleeping peacefully until you need it.
