If you’re experiencing issues with images not showing up in Azure Managed Grafana, it is likely due to a Content Security Policy (CSP) restriction. CSP is a security feature that controls which sources can be used to load content, like images, on your platform. In this case, the current CSP setup blocks images hosted on your Azure Blob Storage domain, because the directive only allows certain domains, and your Blob Storage domain isn’t included.
Here’s what you can do to resolve this:
Azure Managed Grafana enforces a strict CSP that restricts image sources for security reasons. Unfortunately, this means you can’t modify the CSP yourself to add new domains. The block happens at the platform level, which limits flexibility.
Initially, some suggested options included embedding images directly into your dashboards using base64 encoding. However, this approach quickly becomes impractical if you have many images or large files, as it can make your dashboards slow and cumbersome.
The good news is that Microsoft has addressed this issue. The product team has rolled out a patch that updates the CSP rules, allowing images from the Azure Blob Storage domain to load properly. This update has already been implemented in the South Central US region.
If you’re still experiencing problems, you should contact support or your admin team. They can help confirm whether the update has been applied in your region and assist with any additional configuration needed.
In summary, the solution is to wait for the platform update that relaxes these restrictions. Meanwhile, avoid embedding large images directly into dashboards and plan to host images on approved domains or wait for the CSP to be updated. This approach ensures your dashboards load smoothly and securely.
