If you’re unhappy with the keyboard on your new HP laptop because it doesn’t feel or look like the one in the photos, don’t worry—there’s a simple way to handle this. The first thing to do is check where you bought the laptop. If it was from Walmart, your best option is to go through their return policy, rather than trying to fix the hardware yourself.

Walmart usually allows returns within 30 days of purchase. Be sure to keep the original box, charger, and all accessories. To start the return, you can usually do it online through the Walmart website or app. You can choose to ship it back using a prepaid label or take it directly to a Walmart store. If you prefer to exchange the laptop for a different model or one with a keyboard you prefer, you can request an exchange during the return process. Keep in mind that sometimes product photos can be misleading, especially with color or finish, and the actual product might look slightly different.

It’s important to understand that HP laptops have keyboards that are often built into the top cover. Swapping a keyboard or changing the style isn’t easy or cheap—it might require replacing the entire top cover, which could also affect your warranty. Additionally, the photos of keyboards on HP’s website or other retailers might not perfectly match the actual product, especially regarding color and visibility of letters.

If you decide to return the laptop directly to HP, remember they might charge a restocking fee of up to 15%, unless the product is defective or incorrect. Walmart’s return policy tends to be more flexible if the item isn’t what you expected.

The best next step is to look at your receipt or order history to see how many days are left in the 30-day return window. If you’re still within the period, take the laptop, along with the original box, to the nearest Walmart store. The customer service team there can help you process a refund or show you other models that better fit what you’re looking for.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to get your issue resolved without much hassle.
