Can I Add a Second NVMe SSD to My HP Omen 35L?

If you own an HP Omen 35L (GT16-0364) and want to add a second NVMe SSD, you’re in luck. This model actually allows for expanding storage with an additional NVMe SSD, and it’s not as complicated as it might seem.

First, check if your PC has an available M.2 slot. The HP Omen 35L typically comes with one M.2 slot already occupied by your existing 1 TB NVMe SSD. If a second M.2 slot is available, you can install a second NVMe SSD directly without needing any special tools or enclosures. Just make sure to turn off your PC and unplug it before opening the case.

Next, carefully open the side panel of your PC. Look for the second M.2 slot on the motherboard—it’s usually labeled and easy to spot. If you find it, simply insert your new NVMe SSD into the slot at a slight angle, then press it down flat and secure it with the tiny screw provided.

Once installed, replace the side panel, power on your PC, and boot into your system. You may need to go into your BIOS to ensure the new drive is recognized. Finally, format the new SSD right from your operating system so it’s ready to use.

Some technicians might suggest only adding a SATA SSD because they’re familiar with older models or more traditional setups, but in your case, adding an NVMe SSD is perfectly possible and often straightforward. Just verify that your Omen 35L has an additional M.2 slot, and follow these simple steps to expand your storage space.
