After resolving the misunderstanding with Lord Von Bergow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, Hans and Henry are finally ready to relay the message. Following that, he instructs both of you to travel to Nebavok to meet Jaromir Nebak.
Once you’ve successfully completed the quest titled Back in the Saddles, your next task involves extracting information from a bandit through torture. This method will reveal that Olda Semine was assisting the bandits, leading you to face a challenging decision. We’ll outline the most favorable choices here, along with the potential outcomes for each one.
Converse with Hans Capon
After you’ve received the order to torture the prisoner, speak with Hans. As a nobleman, he struggles with the idea of inflicting pain, yet he acknowledges that it’s necessary. Upon finishing your discussion, accompany him to where the prisoner is held.
Tip: Avoid excessive torture as this will lead to the prisoner’s death. Use your skills to extract the needed information instead.
Once you arrive, you’ll need to interrogate the prisoner. You can inquire about the individuals who are aiding the bandits, their hideout location, the name of their leader, and whether Istvan is among them. You will have the chance to obtain these answers through both aggressive and more subtle means.
While tools for interrogation are available, ensure you don’t push the prisoner to the point of death. After the interrogation, you’ll discover that the bandits have taken over Nebavok, and Hans did not actually speak to Jaromir Nebak during your previous visit; instead, he conversed with one of the bandits.
You’ll also learn that Jan is their leader, Istvan is with them, and Olda Semine aided in the ambush. With this new information, the next step is to report back to Von Bergow.
Note: Completing the interrogation will damage your reputation with Hans.

Discuss Your Findings with Von Bergow
Now that you possess the necessary information, it’s time to speak with Von Bergow. Find him in his chamber and start by informing him that the bandits have seized Nebavok, followed by the news that Istvan Toth is with them.
What’s crucial here is whether you share details about Olda Semine. If you previously informed Von Bergow about Olda escaping from the wedding, you may have a difficult time convincing him to overlook this matter.
It’s generally best to avoid that route. If you choose to disclose Olda Semine’s collaboration with the bandits, Von Bergow will send you, Hans, and some of his soldiers, along with Hashek, to confront Semine. This could lead to significant bloodshed, but if you opt not to mention Olda’s involvement, you can proceed directly to the next quest called For Victory. However, if you didn’t keep Olda out of the discussion earlier and decide not to mention his involvement now, the raid on Semine will still occur.
Await Hashek
You’ll need to wait for Hashek to gather the soldiers, so engage in conversation with Hans while you wait. Once the time has lapsed, you’ll meet with Hashek; afterward, mount your horse and accompany the soldiers.
The journey to Semine might seem long and tedious, but Hashek will share insights about the raid. He will recount the tragic events, providing some entertainment.
Eventually, when he finishes his tale, you will reach Semine. A cutscene will play, showing Henry, Hans, Hashek, and the soldiers entering through the gates. Following this, you’ll need to confront Lord Semine.
At this juncture, you can prevent the massacre from occurring in Semine by choosing between two options: you can either align with Hashek or support Olda Semine.
Choosing Between Hashek or Olda Semine
If you side with Hashek, a massacre will ensue, resulting in the deaths of everyone at Semine. Olda will be hiding on the top floor, and allowing Hashek to kill him will stop the slaughter but will lead to the entire estate being set ablaze.
However, opting to support Olda Semine might prevent the unnecessary killing that Hashek seeks. If you believe that Olda and the innocent bystanders deserve to survive, protecting him is your best course of action.
If you choose to save Olda, be prepared to fight Hashek alongside Hans. It’s vital to commit to siding with Olda early on to bring more allies into the fray.
Choosing to defend Olda means Hashek will turn against you. You’ll then need to defeat Hashek and his men to protect everyone else. This battle won’t be particularly challenging, so defeat the foes swiftly.
Tip: Avoid getting caught between two enemies, as you can’t defend against multiple attackers at once. Stay aware of your surroundings as you engage.
Now, you must devise a clever plan to deceive Von Bergow. You will soon formulate a strategy with those you’ve rescued. Henry suggests burning down the estate while the Semines fake their deaths to escape. The Semines agree with this proposal.
You can also inquire why Olda chose to ally with the bandits, and he will explain his reasoning. Afterward, it will be time to return to Trosky, which will be another uneventful journey.
Report Back to Von Bergow About the Events
After enduring what might feel like the longest ride of your life, return to Von Bergow and narrate the events that transpired. If you sided with Olda Semine, it’s best to lie about what occurred, and he will accept your version of the story. Since Hashek is already dead, he’ll be painted as the villain. Alternatively, you can confess, which will trigger a cutscene featuring Henry facing execution.
If you supported Hashek, disclose how ruthless he was to Von Bergow. During the conversation, you will have the opportunity to denounce the massacre. You may choose to voice your disapproval or remain silent.
Completing this quest, Necessary Evil, will transition you into the next mission, For Victory. However, as you begin this new quest, your freedom to explore will become limited, so it’s advisable to wrap up any side quests or skills you wanted to explore with Hans before proceeding.
