To maximize your resource gathering, farming, combat, and fishing in Luma Island, keeping your tools updated is essential. At the beginning of your adventure, you’ll start with Copper tools. These will be reliable as you establish yourself in the game.
However, Copper tools will only get you so far, and eventually, you’ll find yourself unable to upgrade any further. When that happens, it’s time to venture across the bridge to discover the enigmatic Forest, where you can collect a more powerful resource: Iron Ore.
How to Locate Iron Ore
Once you unlock the Forest biome, head towards the entrance of the main section of the Lost Forest Caves, which can be found in the northwestern corner of the initial area on the map.
There is also a second entrance to the Lost Forest Caves, located near a lake to the east. This one is more of a tunnel and offers less ore compared to the main area.
As you explore, you’ll encounter a camp equipped with a campfire that you can relight. This area also has various crafting stations that require materials from the Forest: specifically, a Sawmill, Ore Smelter, Kiln, and Simple Workbench.
You can find several pieces of Iron Ore right outside the cave to kick off your mining. However, most of your Iron Ore will be located inside the caves.
Inside the Lost Forest Caves, you’ll also find Charcoal and some Copper Ore near the entrance, as well as Iron Ore, Silver Rubble, and three new gems: Pyrite, Bismuth, and Crocoite.
Tip: You can safely run past Spiders while they’re staggered as long as you see a red anger icon above their heads.
New challenges await in the form of a different variant of the Spider enemy. This particular Spider glows green, has more health, moves faster, and can sometimes resist being staggered. However, it still has the same one-hit KO potential as its counterpart.
Prepare well, and happy mining!
