While each player’s experience with Tides of Tomorrow may vary, everyone will have the opportunity to visit Kelpie’s Playground. Usually, you aren’t explicitly guided there; instead, it appears as a travel destination during Act Two without any prior notification.
Despite this, Kelpie’s Playground plays a key role in your journey, as it allows you to travel to Wrecklandia afterwards. Before heading there, you must complete the Kelpie location, which involves teaming up with an important character and meeting their unusual friend. Here’s how to do it.
### Arrive at the Location
When you arrive, you’ll be stopped by a creature and a yellow submarine. Inside the sub, you can see Eyla banging on the glass and yelling, but you can’t hear her. Eventually, she recognizes you and invites you to board her sub. To start a proper conversation, drive your boat close enough to Eyla so you can understand her words.
During the chat, she will ask if she can come aboard your ship. You should agree, but keep in mind that more than just her will board your vessel.
### Meet Kelpie
In the next scene, both Eyla and her Merid friend Kelpie will be on your ship. Eyla will introduce you to Kelpie, and you’ll have three response options:
– “It looks cute” — increases your Pro-Nature points.
– “It looks dangerous” — increases your Survivalist points.
– “It looks tasty” — increases your Troublemaker points.
The conversation continues until Kelpie goes back into the water.
### Follow and Feed Kelpie
After Kelpie swims away, you must follow her. She’s identifiable by her fin sticking out above the water. Just follow that fin to keep pace. She leads you to a docked area with a platform and a crane holding a net filled with food.
On the left side of the platform, you’ll find lockers to search and scrap to gather. Be sure to do this before leaving. Then, climb the platform to pull a lever which releases the food for Kelpie. Pet her afterward to earn the My Friend’s Friend Is My Friend achievement or trophy, which also boosts your Pro-Nature points. Afterward, head back to your boat.
### Destroy Debris and Follow Kelpie to the Old Turbine
Kelpie will lead you through an area covered with debris. You need to shoot your way through these obstructions. Once cleared, follow Kelpie again, as she heads toward the next set of debris that requires shooting through.
Eventually, you’ll reach an area with an old turbine. Once you’ve cleared more debris, arrive at another docking point. Once on land, Eyla will ask you to approach the old turbine.
### Proceed to the Orange Container and Find the Duck
From where you disembark, head left and follow the winding path around. You’ll go through an orange container, and after exiting, turn left and climb the blue containers to take the longer route. Along this path, you’ll find plenty of scrap and uncover a blue container that contains a duck collectible.
### Explore Eyla’s Old Place
After obtaining the duck, continue forward and drop down into a ruined area, which is Eyla’s former residence. You’ll see her destroyed apartment, then proceed to the spot with the bed—her old place.
### Speak with Eyla
Next, you’ll speak with Eyla, sitting above the water. Sit beside her and listen to her story. During your discussion, you can choose a line that influences your reputation:
– “You don’t hate Kass” — boosts Pro-Mankind points.
– “Come on. Kelpie’s counting on us” — boosts Pro-Nature points.
– “Yeah, but their seafood buffet is delicious” — boosts Troublemaker points.
Most dialogue options here don’t affect the story significantly; simply let the conversation unfold to complete this section of Kelpie’s Playground.
