A pair of highly anticipated PS5 remakes of classic PlayStation adventure titles now have confirmed release dates.
On the PlayStation Blog, Cyan Worlds announced that the remakes of Myst and Riven will launch on May 19, 2026. Both titles will be available for $34.99 each, just a few weeks away. These updates bring beloved 90s adventure games back to the latest console and PS VR2.
Hannah Gamiel, Cyan Worlds’ development director, shared details about the enhancements in these remakes. Visually, both games receive significant upgrades, including ray tracing support for PS5 and PS5 Pro. While the frame rate is capped at 30 FPS during ray-traced reflections, players can enjoy stunning visuals like never before.
The PS5 Pro versions will feature improved graphics, greater draw distances, enhanced foliage, and refined textures. Both titles will support dual screens and PS VR2, with Cyan Worlds applying lessons learned from their previous VR-supported game, Firmament, to enhance the experience of Myst and Riven.
Originally released in 1993, Myst invites players to explore the mysterious island of Myst through a magical book. Solving puzzles unlocks further travel across the world. The game was a massive hit upon release, selling over six million copies and holding the title of best-selling PC game for nearly a decade. It remains one of the most influential titles in gaming history.
Riven, the sequel released in 1997, continues the puzzle-driven story of Myst. While it was also a huge success and the best-selling game of 1997, it didn’t quite reach the heights of its predecessor. Both remakes aim to captivate new audiences and longtime fans alike.
