Rumors are swirling that the highly anticipated PS5 action-adventure game, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, has been quietly delayed. Created by Flying Wild Hog and Crystal Dynamics, this title is a remake of the original Tomb Raider from 1996. Originally set to release in 2026, that timeline might no longer hold.
A few weeks ago, a reputable Tomb Raider fan known as Society of Raiders—who has a strong track record within the gaming community—claimed that the game’s release has been pushed back to February 2027. Society of Raiders was the first to reveal the existence of Legacy of Atlantis, lending additional credibility to their claim.
Yesterday, another trusted source inside the Tomb Raider community supported this update. During an episode of the Tombs, Tea & Trauma podcast, one panelist mentioned having direct contact with someone working on the development. They indicated that a new trailer is expected to drop in June, along with an updated release date of February 12, 2027.
A tweet from Core Design echoes this information, suggesting that the game might not launch in 2026 after all. Instead, the same source hints at a trailer unveiling in June and a release date possibly scheduled for early 2027.
Speculation also hints that Tomb Raider: Catalyst, the franchise’s next major reboot, may be pushed from a 2027 release into 2028.
If these rumors prove accurate, it will have taken Crystal Dynamics a full decade to bring a new Tomb Raider game to fans since Shadow of the Tomb Raider debuted in 2018.
