Sonic and Tails are frequently spotted piloting their famous plane, the Tornado, throughout the game series. This beloved plane is also available in Sonic Speed Simulator on Roblox, where players can use it as a mount with special features.
To get this mount, players need to participate in an event that isn’t essential for progressing through the main storyline, so it’s possible you might have overlooked it. This guide will help you find out where to go and the quickest way to finish the event, so you can take to the skies in no time. To start, head over to Tails in Emerald Hill.
Tornado Assault Event
The Tornado Assault Event is a permanent feature situated in Emerald Hill. Unlike many other events, this one is not in the starting area; instead, it is positioned a little farther away as a distinct attraction.
To access the event, you must cross the two bridges at the spawn point. Once there, you can use a teleport to enter a different area.
As depicted in the image above, the event involves flying the Tornado through Sky Rings while taking out Badniks. Your score will be influenced by several factors, and you will accumulate points whenever you participate again, which will earn you rewards at various point milestones:
- 1,000 Points: 2x Peach Pixel Trail
- 5,000 Points: 5x Jewel Diamond Chao
- 10,000 Points: 3x Peach Pixel Trail
- 20,000 Points: Aviator Tails
- 30,000 Points: The Tornado
To earn the Tornado, you must complete the entire event.
Note: The Chao and Trails offered are additional rewards that don’t have particularly impressive stats, while Aviator Tails comes with a Luck bonus stat!
Tornado Assault Mini-game
The Tornado Assault mini-game involves flying through a level packed with Badniks, Rings, and Sky Rings. Here’s how you can score points:
- 1 Point for each Ring you collect
- 4 Points for each Badnik you destroy
- 10 Points for each Sky Ring you collect
At the end of your run, you will receive a rating up to S-rank based on your performance. A perfect run can net you about 1,250 points, but missing Badniks or Sky Rings can affect your score. Although it’s possible to achieve higher than 1,250 points, there are no additional rewards for doing so.
Every time you finish a run, your total points are added to the overall score in the event area, which means you will need to complete the mini-game several times to obtain the Tornado.
Strategy for Maximizing Points
To maximize your points, remember to keep firing at all times with the shoot button, which is the same as your jump button in regular gameplay. You will not run out of ammo, so focus on taking out every Badnik you encounter. The Tornado will automatically target Badniks directly in front of it, and shots will home in on them, so aim to lock onto as many enemies as possible.
Throughout the level, if you encounter a line of Rings, count them quickly. If there are more than ten Rings, you may want to collect those instead of the Sky Rings; otherwise, prioritize collecting every Sky Ring available for maximum points.
At the free-fall section of the mini-game, you can speed down, but it’s often better not to. If you fall too quickly, you may miss some Sky Rings loading into the level.
Following this strategy should yield around 1,200 points per run. Expect to earn the Tornado after approximately 25 attempts!
How to Equip the Tornado
Once you complete the event, the Tornado will be available in your Mounts menu under a special section dedicated to it. This mount functions differently than others in a few key ways.
Firstly, you cannot boost while riding the Tornado, but you can shoot just like you did during the mini-game. The Tornado allows for free flight, unlike the Super characters who can only move in a straight line. With the Tornado, you can navigate in any direction you want.
Keep in mind that the Tornado will disappear upon contact with the ground, so fly carefully if you’re trying to reach higher areas.
