After a long wait, players can now easily switch between different builds in Diablo 4 with the new Armory system. Each major town features a new vendor who allows you to save and modify your preferred builds. You can store your current skills, passive points, and gear into an Armory loadout, enabling you to switch between builds with just one button press.
If you like playing a single character for a while, having multiple loadouts is a fantastic way to test out new builds without the hassle of inventory interference or the tediousness of Paragon respecs. This guide will explain how to use the Armory system in Diablo 4.
How to Use the Armory
You can locate an Armory at every central town in Diablo 4, identifiable by an eye icon on your map. Interacting with the Armory brings up a menu that lets you save up to five unique builds for your character. The Armory will store the following elements:
- Your skill tree.
- Paragon boards and allocated skill points.
- Your equipment (excluding cosmetic items).
- Your current ability hotbar.
Changing your loadout comes at no cost. All gold respec fees were eliminated in Season 7.
Once you have a few loadouts saved, you can effortlessly switch between them at any Armory station in town. Saving a loadout will mark all equipped items as favorites, preventing accidental deletion. If you happen to delete an item that’s part of a loadout, that slot will remain empty when you switch to that build. For instance, if you remove your primary weapon and then load a build that requires it, you’ll simply have your current weapon instead.
You can maintain up to five loadouts simultaneously, each of which can be modified, renamed, or deleted as you wish. These loadouts store skill modifiers and Paragon boards, offering a lot of flexibility. You don’t need to create five completely different builds to make good use of the Armory. Instead, consider saving variations of your preferred builds tailored for specific endgame content, like major boss encounters or high-level dungeon runs.
Equipped items associated with a loadout will display a special icon at the bottom-right of their inventory image. Make sure to check for this icon before clearing out your inventory or stash.
