Lilac is a formidable Attuner, but her journey in Ender Magnolia: Bloom in the Mist would be much harder without the assistance of her Homunculi friends. These crafted beings lend their special skills to help her navigate through the challenging Land of Fumes.
However, it’s not easy for her to find a willing Homunculus to assist. Many of them are driven insane due to the fumes, and Lilac has to Tune them back to their original state before she can communicate with them. Fortunately, they are always grateful for her help and do their best to aid her in return.
How to Acquire All Abilities
In Ender Magnolia, there are ten primary abilities. Each ability is associated with a different Homunculus, and players will acquire most of these skills as they advance through the storyline. The abilities fall into four categories: Primary, Autonomous, Cooldown, and Pressure attacks.
The type of attack determines how a Homunculus’s ability operates and is not changeable. However, some Relics can enhance the damage of specific attack types.
You can unlock these abilities by either defeating the respective Homunculus in battle and tuning them back to normal or by peacefully interacting with them to complete a task. Most abilities are part of the main story and are unavoidable, while a few are optional, which you can obtain later in the game.
To gain new attacks for your Homunculi, you must upgrade their abilities using items found in the game. Note that some items might be difficult to locate, meaning you may not be able to use different skills right away.
Nola
- Attack Type: Primary
- Attacks: Spirit Piercer, Soul Harvester, Vanquisher.
- Obtained Through: Main Story
Nola is the first Homunculus you’ll meet and becomes your most crucial companion. You’ll gain her assistance very early in the game, shortly after overcoming the initial enemies. She will be your primary attacker for quite a while.
She performs Primary damage and can switch between a sword, a scythe, and an ax, offering different gameplay styles that allow you to adapt to various boss encounters and challenges.
Lito
- Attack Type: Cooldown
- Attacks: Blazing Fist, Glacial Fist, Rocket Fist
- Obtained Through: Main Story
Lito is your second ally, and the first you recruit through combat. You’ll find him in the Subterranean Testing Site Ruins, shortly after acquiring Nola, near the Test Subject Wing Respite.
After tuning him back to normal, he shares his punching techniques with you, which come with a strict Cooldown. His punches deliver heavy damage at once and can inflict various Status Effects at a small chance. Each of his attacks hits from different angles.
Yolvan
- Attack Type: Pressure
- Attacks: Barrage, Lacerate, Eviscerate
- Obtained Through: Main Story
This winged Homunculus wields double guns, which can fire different projectiles based on your selected attack. He excels at dealing Break Damage but has lower standard damage in return. His strength shines when fighting at a distance.
You will encounter Yolvan in the Old City – Lower Stratum, next to the Clock Tower Plaza Respite, marking a mandatory battle to advance the storyline. He is also the first dual-part boss you’ll face.
Muninn
- Attack Type: Autonomous
- Attacks: Seeker, Stun, Bombard
- Obtained Through: Main Story
Muninn, an owl Homunculus, autonomously attacks with powerful tracking strikes. Being the first Homunculus with Autonomous abilities, enabling her allows her to assault enemies without any user input. While her attacks might not be particularly powerful, every bit of passive damage is helpful.
You will unlock Muninn after reaching the Rest Area respite in the Magicite Mine, where the Attuner Heath places her into your care. She has area-covering attacks that can also apply several Status Effects.
Remember that Autonomous Homunculi won’t work during cutscenes, so reactivate them again when you engage a main boss right after the cutscene ends.
Shackled Beast
- Attack Type: Cooldown
- Attacks: Chain Whip, Charge, Benumbed Howl
- Obtained Through: Main Story
The Shackled Beast, a tough Homunculus with a difficult temperament, ultimately chooses to assist Lilac in battle, providing her with formidable counterattacks. If timed correctly, you can absorb incoming damage without taking any harm while delivering massive retaliation to opponents.
The Shackled Beast serves as the final boss of the Tethered Steeple at the Forest Barrier – Entrance respite. Once defeated, its abilities become yours.
Using Carapaces can also activate a Counter effect, and you can use them alongside Shackled Beast for an effective strategy against numerous bosses.
Reibolg
- Attack Type: Primary
- Attacks: Magic Tracer, Piercer Beam, Blast Volley
- Obtained Through: Side Quest
Reibolg is the Homunculus of Chief Attuner Joran, serving as a ranged Primary attacker, much like Nola.
To obtain him, you need to first visit Central Stratum and meet Joran. Afterward, return to the Crystalline Realm, go to the Unblighted Path respite, and head east. The barrier previously blocking this path will now be lifted.
Here, you’ll meet Reibolg and engage him in battle for the first time. Defeating him will open a new route to the Land of Origin. Continue down the path until you find Joran, who situates himself near the Ancient Resting Place respite. He will charge you with the mission of saving Reibolg. Enter the following room, defeat Reibolg again, and you’ll unlock his abilities.
This Homunculus is optional, like all others in the Land of Origin. However, you must obtain Reibolg if you want to achieve Ending B.
Luiseach
- Attack Type: Pressure
- Attacks: Volcanic, Whirlwind, Cocytus
- Obtained Through: Main Story
Luiseach is a Professor Homunculus from the Sorcerer Academy, utilizing her magic to deliver Pressure attacks similar to Yolvan. While she is slower than Yolvan when it comes to breaking enemy defenses, she inflicts more direct damage. Additionally, all of her attacks can trigger Status Effects.
To recruit her, defeat her at the top of the Sorcerer Academy, near the Vacant Courtyard respite. It is not necessary to complete the Missing Students side quest, but you do need to defeat Professor Eliza beforehand.
Huginn
- Attack Type: Autonomous
- Attacks: Gust Wing, Poison Cloud, Flaming Feather
- Obtained Through: Side Quest
Huginn, the brother of Muninn, can work well on his own but truly shines when paired with his sister, creating a devastating Autonomous duo. His attacks cover different areas that Muninn does not.
To obtain Huginn, you first need to meet Levy in the Magicite Mine (which requires Motley) and in the Crystalline Realm (on your way to the first respite). Afterward, head to the Steel District Bench respite.
Once there, drop down through the pipe in the room above, then explore the hidden passage on the ground. Continue navigating the area until you locate Levy.
After finding her, she will provide the Avian Remains. Then, return to Central City and talk to Heath near the Relic Refinery. He will tell you about Huginn, allowing you to tune him as an ability from that point onward.
No. 7
- Attack Type: Cooldown
- Attacks: Lunar Manifestation, Hail Dance, Thunder Flower
- Obtained Through: Main Story
No. 7 is a Homunculus forced to compete in the Arena Tower, capable of delivering rapid slash attacks with his Cooldown skills, and can also inflict various Status Effects.
You will acquire him after defeating the gauntlet of four consecutive matches against other Puppet fighters in the Arena Tower at the end of the Steel District. No. 7 awaits at the top, functioning as the final boss of this area.
In addition to damage, No. 7’s Lunar Manifestation can extend your jumps and dashes, enabling you to reach platforms that were previously inaccessible.
Lorna
- Attack Type: Autonomous
- Attacks: Gravity Field, Light Show, Wave Pulse
- Obtained Through: Main Story
Lorna is a Frost Homunculus living in penance. She possesses powerful Autonomous skills, but her mechanism functions a bit differently from the owls. Once deployed, Lilac needs to stay close to Lorna, or she will deactivate. Her attacks cover large areas and are quite potent, but they necessitate constant position adjustments.
You can unlock her in the Frost Estate Ruins, situated above the Dust-covered Sofa respite. This area becomes accessible once you enhance Motley in Declan Estate, following Declan’s defeat.
