Your adventure in Palworld is completely customizable. The game provides a variety of options, enabling you to modify everything from the speed of day-night cycles to more complex settings, such as adjusting how Pals appear in groups of three or changing the penalties for death.
If you prefer not to fiddle with these calibration tools, you can select preset difficulty levels such as Casual, Normal, or Hard during world setup, or tweak them in an existing world. One interesting feature you might not be aware of is the Random Pal Mode. This guide will clarify what this mode entails.
Understanding Random Pal Mode
Random Pal Mode lets you randomly replace all Pals in the game. For instance, while typical gameplay features Pals like Lamball, Cattiva, and Chikipi in starter regions, Random Pal Mode replaces them with a randomly chosen selection of the 140 Pals available in the game.
However, the levels of these newly assigned Pals aren’t guaranteed to match those of the original Pals. You might run into a Level 50 Jormuntide Ignis right at the beginning, making early survival a challenge.
Field Alpha Bosses are also replaced randomly, adding more unpredictability to your encounters.
To activate Random Pal Mode, you can only do so when you create a new world. This mode is not available in existing worlds.
There are two selection options in Random Pal Mode:
- Randomize by Region
- Completely Random
Both options significantly increase the randomness compared to the standard game mode. However, selecting ‘Randomize by Region’ generally makes the game more manageable than ‘Completely Random.’ In this option, the levels of the randomly chosen Pals are more aligned with their environmental context.
For instance, in calmer islands such as Marsh Island or Eastern Wild Island, you’ll usually encounter lower-level Pals. That said, there can still be exceptions where you might come across higher-level Pals.
For example, in beginner areas, you might encounter Pals ranging from Level 25 to 30, which still present a notable challenge. Think of these as replacements for Mammorests that you usually come across in normal gameplay.
If you select ‘Completely Random’, the level limitations found in ‘Randomize by Region’ do not apply. Consequently, Pals above Level 50 may appear in starting areas, resulting in heightened chaos as opposed to the more structured gameplay of ‘Randomize by Region.’ Regardless of your selection, expect to face formidable Pals, especially at the game’s onset.
Activating Random Pal Mode
To activate Random Pal Mode, it can only be done while creating a new world. After setting up your world, click the ‘Custom Settings’ option. This opens the World Settings menu. Scroll until you see the Random Pal Mode feature, which will be set to ‘No Randomization’ by default.
You can then use the arrow buttons to choose either ‘Randomize by Region’ or ‘Completely Random’ for randomizing the Pals in your world. Additionally, if you possess the seed for someone else’s world, you can input it in the designated box below the randomization options. Keep in mind, once you turn on Random Pal Mode for a specific world, it cannot be turned off.
