Palworld poses quite the challenge for players. As a survival game, you’ll encounter various obstacles along your journey. Interestingly, the toughest hurdles may not involve finding food or braving harsh weather conditions. More often than not, your main adversaries will be hostile Pals and rival factions occupying different islands.
The playing field isn’t always even either; rugged landscapes, like steep cliffs, can add to your struggles. To navigate these difficulties effectively, it’s crucial to gear up with the best equipment and assemble a team of elite Pals. But what are the specifics of the unforgiving Hardcore Mode? This guide will break down everything you need to know.
Hardcore Mode: An Overview
Hardcore Mode is the toughest difficulty setting in Palworld. You have the option to choose this mode when creating a new world or switch to it later by adjusting your world settings.
There are two key changes in Hardcore Mode. First, any Pals whose health points drop to zero will vanish for good, meaning you can never use them again.
Moreover, there’s no way to bring these fallen Pals back, whether through the Palbox or any other means. Once a Pal meets their end, a warning will flash on your screen, and they’ll be permanently taken off your roster.
The second significant difference in Hardcore Mode revolves around your character’s mortality. While you can replace lost Pals with new ones, if your character dies, there’s no second chance. Upon your character’s demise, you’ll receive a warning, and then you’ll be returned to the main menu.
Characters that die cannot continue in the same world. Without a revival option, you must tread carefully.
Tip for Survival:
If you decide to change the settings of a world where you’ve met an unfortunate end and switch from Hardcore Mode to an easier level, you can pick up right where you left off in that world. Your level will remain intact, and you can continue your adventure. However, your items and Pals will be left at the spot where you lost your life, so you’ll need to backtrack to retrieve them.
To kick off a new world in Hardcore Mode or to convert a current one, simply select your world from the World Select screen. Then, hit the ‘Change World Settings’ button, followed by the Difficulty settings button, and keep pressing until you land on Hardcore.
Be mindful that if you adjust any settings after switching to Hardcore Mode, you’ll revert to Custom Mode. Therefore, to remain in Hardcore Mode, avoid changing any in-game settings.
