Enemy Skill Materia Overview
With a diverse range of characters and virtually limitless Materia options, combat in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is always thrilling and well-constructed, keeping players engaged and rewarded during every battle. Whether you’re up against a powerful Summon or a group of weaker foes, you’ll enjoy every moment of the action.
When it comes to Materia, the Enemy Skill Materia is present in Rebirth, but it operates quite differently from its original use in Final Fantasy 7. Despite the changes, it’s still one of the most valuable types of Materia available, offering Skills that can significantly turn the tide in battles when utilized effectively.
Last updated on February 3, 2025, by Seth Parmer: Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has launched on PC, allowing players to experience it in its optimal form. This update aims to enhance the guide with clearer explanations of how the Enemy Skill Materia functions, the abilities it provides, and how to obtain them!
Enemy Skill Materia Overview
The Enemy Skill Materia, as the name suggests, lets you employ Skills from enemies you’ve faced before. This enables you to deal substantial damage to your opponents. However, acquiring these Skills may be more complicated than you think, especially if you’re accustomed to the mechanics from the original game.
In this version, instead of waiting for an enemy to use a specific ability while the Materia is equipped, you’ll earn all Enemy Skills by participating in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. But first, you need to complete several tasks for him before you can access these Skills.
Generally, these tasks involve Assessing a certain number of enemies in specific areas, as well as defeating a Classified Foe which will unlock a Biological Intel challenge in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. Successfully completing this challenge will enhance the Enemy Skill Materia by adding a new Skill for your character to use in combat.

How to Unlock All Enemy Skills
Before acquiring more Enemy Skills, you must first obtain the Enemy Skill Materia by completing the Biological Intel: Know Thine Enemy challenge in Chadley’s Combat Simulator. This challenge becomes available after you meet Chadley in the Grasslands Region and activate your first tower.
Upon completing this challenge, you will receive the Enemy Skill Materia alongside its starting ability, Sonic Boom. Afterward, to acquire additional Enemy Skills, you’ll need to Assess more enemies and defeat more Classified Foes before returning to Chadley to take on additional Biological Intel challenges.
The following table outlines all the Enemy Skills available through the Enemy Skill Materia, including how to acquire them and their effects in combat. While only a few Skills are obtainable in Rebirth, many of them are incredibly powerful, making the effort worthwhile.
You can check your progress in the Biological Intel challenges by opening your map (Touchpad) and navigating to the Chadley page using R2. Press R1 to view the ‘Combat Simulator’ section, where you will see your progress for all parts of Chadley’s challenges. Hovering over the Biological Intel series shows how many enemies you’ve assessed and whether you’ve defeated the required Classified Foes to unlock more challenges!
