Among the new cards introduced in the recently launched Mythical Island booster pack for Pokémon TCG Pocket, Druddigon stands out as an excellent addition for your deck, given the right strategy. The game has yet to offer a wide variety of Dragon types, making this card, originally from the fifth-generation Black and White games, a formidable choice when used effectively in TCG Pocket.
What makes Druddigon exceptional is its ability known as “Rough Skin,” which inflicts 20 damage on any opposing Pokémon that attacks it while in the Active Spot. This ability ranks among the most powerful options available in the expansive card collection of TCGP. Although Druddigon alone cannot single-handedly take on top-tier decks from Mythical Island, like the highly competitive Celebi ex deck, a well-constructed deck featuring this cave-dwelling Pokémon can be surprisingly lethal when paired with a careful mix of cards.

A Diverse Energy Approach
To build the most effective Druddigon deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket, gather the following cards, including two Druddigons, and Eevee, Flareon, Vaporeon, and Kangaskhan. Some of these cards are also present in the leading Pidgeot ex deck. If you’ve been actively playing since the game launched, chances are you already own most of the Genetic Apex cards you need. The hardest one to find may be Kangaskhan, a three-diamond rare card exclusive to the Genetic Apex Charizard pack. If you really need it, you can buy Kangaskhan from the Pack Point Exchange for 150 Pack Points.
Winning Strategy with a Druddigon Deck
Utilize Rough Skin Effectively
To succeed with a Druddigon deck in Pokémon TCG Pocket, leverage Druddigon’s abilities and synergize with your other powerful cards. The primary challenge with Druddigon is that it requires both one Water and one Fire Energy to use Dragon Claw.
Luckily, including just one Vaporeon and one Flareon will enable you to generate the necessary Energy quickly, allowing you to execute strong attacks. Your Colorless Pokémon—Eevee, Kangaskhan, and Tauros—are also capable of delivering significant damage while benefiting from any combination of the needed Energies.
Since two of the required Energies for Vaporeon and Flareon’s attacks can be any type, they’re relatively easy to set up. They can function as robust tanks and heavy hitters for your strategy.
If you’re unable to set up Druddigon’s Dragon Claw, you can still rely on Rough Skin to damage your opponent’s Pokémon while absorbing attacks. Additionally, if there’s another Pokémon ready on your bench, Leaf can help switch Druddigon out for a finishing blow. While Druddigon may not be the most dominant card in the Pokémon TCG Pocket meta, it certainly offers a fun and engaging way to play.
