As you journey through the realm of Kamelot, remnants of King Arthur and his Round Table await in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. You’ll discover various secrets, valuable crafting materials, and formidable monsters that will challenge you along the way. Everything weaves together to create an extraordinary world steeped in myth and conflict.
Before you jump in, it’s essential to be prepared. That’s why we’ve put together a guide packed with our top tips to help you get started. From which items to keep to the most efficient ways to earn experience points, we’ve got you covered.
Sneak Everywhere, All The Time
Right from the start, make sure to crouch and sneak around the prison on the island. Your sneaking ability will improve as you pass by Red Priests and other lurking threats. Regardless of your play style, acquiring early experience points is vital for leveling up and unlocking new abilities.
You’ll earn extra experience by sneaking up on foes and attacking for bonus damage!
To continuously enhance this skill, you can stay crouched throughout your adventures. It’s especially useful in open areas with enemies nearby or in tight spaces like dungeons and caves. You’ll notice frequent upgrades to your sneak skill, and the detection system might alert you to hidden dangers.
Pick Every Lock You Find
If you come across a lockpick, be sure to grab it. Avalon is filled with locked chests waiting to be unlocked. Even if their rewards seem minor, the experience gained from opening a locked chest is invaluable.
You can find chests in private areas, which may require more stealth, or out in the wild outside city limits. Watch for wooden crates and containers to acquire all that precious loot and level up in the process.
Carry As Many Ingredients As You Can
Throughout your travels, you’ll encounter plenty of flowers, vegetables, fruits, and other ingredients perfect for cooking or alchemy. Both skills can be upgraded, so it’s smart to collect as much as you can for when you have access to cooking pots or alchemy stations.
If you use Ethereal Cobwebs at your campfire, you can safely access these options no matter where you are outdoors.
Don’t worry about knowing specific recipes; you can always mix three random ingredients together and see what you create. Who knows? This time, it might be a delicious meal instead of a tasteless dish.
Sprint And Jump Constantly
Make sure to sprint and jump frequently to boost your agility skill. This technique is a great way to rack up early experience without too much effort, especially when you’ll be doing a lot of walking at first.
If you’re overburdened, sprinting isn’t an option, but jumping is still fair game!
Those who prefer a more aggressive approach with weapons may prefer this method over crouching to build their sneak skill, but gaining extra experience is always beneficial.
Use Your Campfire Often
Whenever you’re outside, you can set your campfire nearly anywhere that is unobstructed. Use this to rest, eat, level up, and most importantly—chat with King Arthur.
As you journey through the world and its wonders, Arthur may share insights with you, whether they be memories or advice for your journey ahead. Speaking with the Once and Future King can bring clarity when facing tough choices, or perhaps you’ll simply enjoy his company.
Explore Every Inch Of The Map
The map might appear vast, but it’s not as large as you might think. Examining every nook and cranny can lead to ancient druidic ruins, treasure-filled caves, and lost secrets.
Don’t forget to check the bottom of the blood lake for a door. Be ready for a fight once you get inside.
You’ll likely encounter side quests and other thrilling challenges, making it worth your while to pause and explore from time to time. You can even collect flowers to keep in your inventory for later use.
Search The Asylum Island Thoroughly Before Leaving
The tutorial area is one of the most vital places you’ll visit early on, containing more than just your mysterious guide to the beach. There’s lots of loot to collect, as well as two mini-bosses to defeat for extra gear and experience.
However, ensure you’re ready for the challenge. Just because it’s ‘tutorial’ doesn’t mean it’s ‘easy.’
Also, be mindful of the plague victims held prisoner here. Leaving them be could lead to their slow demise, which won’t benefit anyone. You can sneak up and deliver a final blow for a small amount of experience instead.
Make sure to pick up the shovel when you find it; not only can it be used as a weapon, but it’s also useful for digging up buried treasure. There are chests hidden throughout Avalon that are just waiting to be opened!
Other tools, like a wood-cutting axe, a pick, and a fishing rod, are also available. These will allow you to gather various resources for crafting, so take the opportunity to collect them early on at Asylum Island.
Engage With Everyone You Encounter
You never know what surprises await you. Talking to NPCs can yield bits of lore, goods, or even training to bolster your skills. Some enemies might also offer negotiation opportunities, though success may be rare.
Sometimes, fighting will be unavoidable, but listening to their monologue first can reveal useful information.
With a range of colorful characters from hidden necromancers to the knights of the round table, there will be plenty of conversations to engage in. Your next encounter might lead you to a legendary quest or even a pie recipe!
Become A Bounty Hunter
Once you’re off Asylum Island, you can immediately start accepting bounties from the Keepers’ stronghold. These quests will reward you with significant sums of gold for taking down bandits and thugs you might already have encountered in Avalon.
Remember to collect Branded Flesh from any bandits you defeat; it’s worth around ten gold pieces.
Keep an eye on your bounties and loot to help build a nest egg for your future adventures. Someone needs to handle those bandits, so why not you?
