Lead is one of the materials you’ll need to craft items in Subnautica 2, but it can be one of the hardest to find. This is because it’s located some distance from your lifepod, and there are only a few places where you can find it early in the game.
To progress, you’ll need to go out and find lead. It’s best to wait until you’ve increased your oxygen capacity a bit before heading into this area. The location has strong underwater currents and predatory fish, so being better prepared will make your search safer.
## Where to Find Lead
Not as common as most materials in Subnautica 2, lead is surprisingly important because it’s used to make one of the key food ingredients, Sugar of Saturn. When you scan the area with your scanner station, which you can build at your base, only two main spots show up. These sites are close to each other, so there’s only one main direction you should explore to find lead.
The locations with lead are expected to change in future patches, especially as the game nears its 1.0 release. But for now, you’ll need to work with the current spots. The deposits are large enough for you to use the Sonic Resonator on, so if you bring enough space in your inventory, you can gather a good amount on each trip.
You might have to make a second trip since you need lead to craft the Sonic Resonator in the first place. To find the spot, head approximately 254 meters east-northeast (65 degrees) from your lifepod. The lead deposits are at about 60 meters deep.
If you need help locating it, look for an underwater current that flows along the lead deposits. There is usually a small research table with a Tadpole fragment nearby that you can scan to help pinpoint the exact location.
The second lead location is just northeast of the first. Staying in this general area will make it easier to find enough lead. Just be careful to distinguish between lead and titanium deposits—they look similar and can be confused if you’re not paying close attention.
