To conquer the endgame in Honkai: Star Rail, it’s crucial to assemble a team of four characters that work well together. Some characters depend on their teammates more than others, as they receive substantial boosts from their allies.
Firefly stands out for having elements in her kit that depend on her teammates, while also retaining the ability to sustain herself on her own. Fortunately, one of her strongest teammates is available for free to all players.
Updated January 02, 2025, by Sanyam Jain: At her launch, Firefly struggled to shine due to limited team options. Thankfully, new support characters have been introduced, and while acquiring them may take some effort, they will significantly enhance Firefly’s performance.
The Ultimate Firefly Team
Team Member |
Role |
---|---|
Firefly | Main DPS |
Fugue | Buffer/Sub-DPS |
Ruan Mei | Buffer |
Lingsha | Sustainer/Sub-DPS |
This team composition is particularly challenging to assemble as it includes all limited five-star units. Given the rapid pace at which new characters are introduced in Honkai: Star Rail, obtaining all four can be tricky for newer players.
Nonetheless, this remains the optimal team for Firefly. With three Fire-type characters focusing on consistent attacks and Ruan Mei significantly increasing Toughness damage, this setup excels.
Even if enemies are not weak to Fire, Firefly can apply Fire weakness using her Technique and enhanced Skill.
Fugue complements this by allowing the team to inflict 50% of the original Toughness damage on enemies lacking the necessary weakness.
Although Lingsha’s role is mainly to sustain the team, she can dish out over 100,000 damage once all enemies’ Toughness is broken. This team is undeniably powerful as long as the enemy does not obscure their weaknesses like Bronya or Sam.
Budget Firefly Team

Firefly | Main DPS |
Harmony Trailblazer | Buffer/Sub-DPS |
Ruan Mei | Buffer |
Gallagher | Sustainer/Sub-DPS |
Firefly’s budget-friendly team resembles her main team but replaces Ruan Mei, as both Harmony Trailblazer and Gallagher are easily obtainable. Ruan Mei debuted alongside the initial Firefly banner, making access to both characters limited for many players.
If you don’t have Ruan Mei, Pela is an excellent alternative. She effectively lowers every enemy’s DEF with her Ultimate, and this is one of the few debuffs that increases Super Break damage. She can also contribute Super Break damage with her Ultimate, but it may not be substantial.
Firefly-Focused Team

Role |
---|---|
Firefly | Main DPS |
Harmony Trailblazer | Buffer/Sub-DPS |
Sparkle/Bronya | Turn Advance |
Aventurine | Sustainer |
If Ruan Mei and Gallagher are unavailable, consider forming this team. However, it will generally yield less overall effectiveness than the primary team. The focus here is on maximizing Firefly’s turns, particularly when she’s buffed; so, you should prioritize building SPD on Sparkle or Bronya.
Aventurine is an exceptional sustainer who can also effectively reduce the enemy’s Toughness when they have Imaginary Weakness, justifying his presence on this team as well. Both Sparkle and Bronya contribute valuable Crit DMG buffs to Firefly.
Typically, building Crit on Firefly is not advisable since she doesn’t deliver high enough personal damage to justify it.
This setup allows you to aim for over 50% Crit Rate on her with favorable sub-stats, letting you enjoy some Crit hits from these buffers. However, it’s essential to note that this team’s overall effectiveness will still fall short compared to her best team, which is also more F2P-friendly.
Toughness Who?

Role |
---|---|
Firefly | Main DPS |
Harmony Trailblazer | Buffer/Sub-DPS |
Boothill | Sub-DPS |
Ruan Mei | Buffer |
This final team for Firefly might sound a little humorous, and indeed it is, but it can perform remarkably well under certain conditions. Boothill was the first five-star character with Break-type damage, released just before Firefly’s first banner. Unlike Firefly, Boothill focuses his attacks on a single enemy.
Boothill excels at delivering high damage while reducing Toughness effectively. Both characters can exploit their respective combat types as weaknesses, making this team versatile, especially when facing enemies weak to both Physical and Fire damage.
This lineup can operate effectively without a dedicated sustainer, given how quickly it can break an enemy’s Toughness, making it particularly advantageous against single-target bosses.
As Toughness is broken, you’ll witness the enemy’s HP rapidly dwindle under the onslaught from both Boothill and Firefly. However, managing your Skill points will be the primary challenge with this composition.
