The AMES 85 stands out as one of the more user-friendly assault rifles in Black Ops 6. While it may fall short in terms of sheer firepower, it compensates with impressive accuracy and a rapid fire rate. This weapon makes hitting targets from distances over 50 meters a breeze, especially if you equip some recoil-reducing attachments.

Although the AMES 85 might not win in direct face-offs against stronger assault rifles under perfect conditions, it is a fantastic choice for players who value precision over sheer time-to-kill (TTK). This guide outlines two effective builds for the AMES 85, allowing you to enhance its low TTK while maximizing its high accuracy, making it a great option for both Multiplayer and Zombies modes.
Multiplayer AMES 85 Build
AMES 85 Build | ||
---|---|---|
Attachment | Pros And Cons | Advanced Stats |
Volzhiskiy Reflex (Optic) | ||
Compensator (Muzzle) | ||
Vertical Foregrip (Underbarrel) |
|
|
Quickdraw Grip (Rear Grip) | ||
Rapid Fire (Fire Mod) |
|
|
The AMES 85’s base TTK isn’t impressive, which is why we recommend starting with the Rapid Fire mod. This will give you an 11% boost in rounds per minute (RPM) at the cost of increased recoil. Thankfully, you can manage that recoil with the right attachments.
You should equip a Compensator and a Vertical Grip to stabilize the weapon. With this combination, you’ll be able to effectively take out enemies from over 30 meters, making it ideal for larger maps. If you prefer not to use the iron sights, opt for any optic, and add a Quickdraw Grip to significantly speed up your aim-down-sights time.

Assault rifles are quite versatile for both aggressive strategies and anchoring positions, so choosing the Strategist specialty is ideal. The Flak Jacket perk enhances your protection against explosives, while the Guardian triggers quick HP regeneration after you secure or defend an objective. Additionally, Fast Hands enables rapid weapon swaps. If you opt for Perk Greed as your Wildcard, consider adding Tac Mask to lessen the impact of Stuns and Flashbangs.
Gunfighter AMES 85 Build

This build is similar to our Multiplayer version but includes a few more attachments thanks to the Gunfighter Wildcard. We strongly suggest attaching a Target Laser for long-distance engagements; it significantly decreases the aiming sway. Essentially, the firearm remains steady for the first four seconds during a firefight.
Your choice of the other two attachments is more personal. We recommend the Extended Mag I for a larger capacity and the Long Barrel to enhance the weapon’s effective range. If you plan to use this in Warzone, think about switching to an Extended Mag II for superior performance in long-range conflicts.

We suggest using the same loadout as before for Multiplayer. The Strategist specialty is excellent for earning scorestreaks swiftly by focusing on objectives. Replace Perk Greed with Gunfighter and remove Tac Mask from the loadout. Everything else stays the same.
