While most of Far Far West is designed for cooperative play, you can still go through the game alone. If you’re planning to play solo, it’s important to take some steps to make your experience easier. Whether you’re a new player or coming from multiplayer, the game can be tougher than it seems when playing by yourself.
The game will still throw the same waves of birds, skeletons, and monsters at you. You’ll need to complete missions solo, which includes fighting bosses and handling side quests on your own. Here are some simple tips to help you succeed in your solo runs in Far Far West:
### Use Your Spells
It might seem obvious, but your spells gain experience by using them, not by killing enemies. When playing alone, you should frequently cast your spells as soon as they’re ready. This helps you level them up faster and makes them more effective for crowd control. Relying more on spells than your guns can be a big advantage solo. Use them quickly after cooldowns to handle groups of enemies, making your runs smoother and safer.
### Infinite Waves Can Be Challenging
After boss fights, you’ll face endless waves of enemies. While it might be tempting to keep fighting to farm experience, be cautious when playing solo. Some enemies, like flying foes, runners, or those with explosives, can quickly overwhelm you. Unless you’re aiming to level up, it’s best to retreat early at higher levels before getting overwhelmed. Prepare well for these encounters—they’ll be tough, so knowing when to run is key.
### Consider a High DPS Spell Build
Choosing the right spells makes a big difference. Since you’ll rely heavily on spells to clear mobs, equip a loadout that delivers strong area damage. For example, an electric spell that zaps multiple enemies at once can be very effective alone. The more damage your spells do, the faster you can eliminate enemies, reducing the risk to yourself and speeding up your progress.
### Exploit Spell Synergies
To maximize your effectiveness, take advantage of combining spells. For instance, using acid on the ground followed by fire creates a large fiery tornado that harms everything caught in it. These combos can help you deal with groups of enemies more efficiently than just shooting at them. Exploiting these synergies is a smart move to keep enemies at bay while playing solo.
### Don’t Die
Dying causes you to lose half of your experience, making every run feel less rewarding. Your character’s experience points are earned by completing missions and extracting, not just by killing enemies. Playing on Hard mode can be a good challenge level for solo play, helping you farm experience without getting overwhelmed. Once you’re confident in your survival skills, set the difficulty to hard for your next missions.
### Take Spells That Help With Survivability
Since you won’t have teammates to back you up, choose spells that boost your odds of staying alive. Spells like Voodoo can drain enemy health or even control enemies temporarily, while Cactus spells can summon utility helpers like crowd control or defensive barriers. Both options are useful; pick the ones that fit your playstyle best.
### Fight Near Ammo Stashes
Running out of ammo in solo play can be a real problem. Always keep track of where your ammo and health supplies are located. Before big fights or while waiting for extraction, make sure you’re stocked up. During boss battles or swarm events, have at least one utility box ready and keep plenty of ammo on hand. Being prepared with supplies can make or break your success.
### Select Support Jokers Carefully
Since you’re playing alone, some Jokers don’t add much value, such as those meant for helping allies—like revival or healing Jokers. You can’t revive yourself if you go down, so those are not useful for solo. Focus instead on Jokers that enhance your survivability, like Heavy Drinker or Relentless, which increase healing from potions and help you recover faster. Avoid Jokers related to death, as getting killed means it’s game over.
Fighting alone in Far Far West requires good planning and resource management, but with the right approach, solo adventures can be very rewarding.
