Why Do You Need Conduit Crystals?
While playing through Subnautica 2 in early access, I found some resources tough to find. Some, like certain alien materials, took multiple trips to locate. One rare resource, the Conduit Crystal, is especially important because it’s used to upgrade your gear and unlock new abilities later in the game.
Getting farther from the starting point takes you into darker waters, over 1,800 meters from the Lifepod. Here, you’ll face more dangerous creatures and see strange alien buildings, along with old camps left behind by explorers. At a camp I found, there was a broken Bioscanner, which is a key upgrade for progressing in the game. This upgrade can be crafted at the Mod Station in your base and improves your standard scanner with cool new features.
To build the Bioscanner, you need Conduit Crystals. When exploring beyond the Alien Ruins, I came across some new resources like Creature Enamel and Celestine, but I couldn’t find any Conduit Crystals after several trips.
Where Can You Find Conduit Crystals?
Conduit Crystals are very rare. They usually appear as single deposits, often hidden behind rocks or in hard-to-see places. In one spot, I saw a crystal growing on a wall, which was pretty sneaky. I’ve only come across a few of these on my journey.
In a particular area, I found two crystals close together on the sea floor, but they were the only ones I’d seen in quite a large stretch. To make the most of your trips, take plenty of water and food, and carefully search the area beyond the Alien Ruins. If you don’t, you might miss out on these crystals and have to go back for another hunt.
Final Tips:
- Conduit Crystals are hard to find and usually come one at a time.
- They tend to hide behind rocks or other structures.
- Gather several crystals before heading back to your base, so you won’t have to make extra trips.
Subnautica 2 is available now in early access on PC and Xbox Series X|S. Keep exploring and stay safe in those mysterious waters!
