One of the highlights of WWE 2K25 is the freedom you have during matches. You can dictate the flow of the fight, and the ring’s environment plays a significant role in shaping your bouts. A thrilling way to add some excitement to your match is by breaking the barricade while grappling with your opponent. Although mastering this technique can be challenging, it can eventually become a signature move for you.
You can perform this maneuver in any match mode that allows it, including custom Superstars you’ve downloaded. However, it’s wise to practice in a quick match before attempting it in multiplayer, as you’ll need to hone your skills.
Arenas Where You Can Break the Barricade
Breakable Barricade Arenas
In WWE 2K25, there are only a few arenas where you can break the barricade. This limitation is due to the distinctiveness of each arena. Some arenas feature breakable barricades, while others might incorporate banners or electrical displays that enhance their uniqueness. While this aesthetic variation adds depth, it does limit your options for breaking barricades to the following arenas:
- Super Showdown 2020
- Smackdown 2020
- Royal Rumble 2022
- Raw 2011
- Raw 2002
- NXT
- No Mercy 2000
- New Year’s Revolution 2007
- Mutinymania
- Money In The Bank 2017
- Mixed Match Challenge
- King & Queen of the Ring
- Japan Dome
- Hell in a Cell 2017
- Elimination Chamber 2024
- Clash in the Castle
- Bash in Berlin
- Backlash 2024
- Arena Estatal
Fortunately, there are plenty of arenas available for you to utilize this technique, eliminating concerns about running out of options. However, keep in mind that not all arenas are available from the start. You’ll need to progress through the Showcase and MyRise modes to unlock several of these. While this may take effort, unlocking additional arenas is certainly worthwhile.
To quickly unlock some arenas, start by playing MyRise, create a female wrestler, and reach the part where you can select a unique personality. Eventually, you will speak with Cathy Kelley—make sure to choose the option for “Bold and Brash.” This selection will unlock the Japan Hall and Arena Estatal arenas, allowing you to break the barricade in the Arena Estatal.
How to Break the Barricade
Effective Strategies for Breaking Barricades
Breaking the barricade in WWE 2K25 can be trickier than you might expect. Once you’ve selected the correct arena, you must prepare your opponent appropriately. Ensure that you have Ring Out disabled or opt for an Extreme Rules match to avoid worrying about being outside the ring for too long.
To practice, consider using a second controller to get the hang of how this works. I recommend getting a good number of tries in before attempting it in regular gameplay.
First, choose a wrestler that performs suplexes. It doesn’t matter what type; it can even be a move from a hidden character in WWE 2K25. Just select a wrestler whose suplex move gives you a clear idea of where your opponent will end up. For instance, the German suplex, exploder suplex, belly-to-back, or belly-to-belly can all work. Personally, I prefer the German suplex, as it will direct your opponent behind you.

Next, you need to find a way to send your opponent outside the ring. If you’re practicing with a second controller, simply throw yourself down. If you’re not, just grapple your opponent and push them over the ropes. The AI tends to leave the arena frequently, so they’ll likely follow you if you taunt them after stepping outside.
You can throw your opponent over the ropes by pressing the grab button again after your first hold.
Position yourself in the corner of the arena and immediately grab your opponent. The key is to angle your suplex correctly, which can be challenging. If you use the German suplex like I do, it makes it much easier. You only need to ensure your back is facing the barricade, then execute your suplex. If you miss, don’t hesitate to try again.
I suggest practicing this three times consecutively before using it in multiplayer or regular modes. Typically, it takes three attempts to master a new move, so this should help you learn the technique. Once you’ve got it down, feel free to use it to dominate your opponents in WWE 2K25.
