Saros offers a variety of weapons for players to discover while exploring Carcosa. Due to the game’s random nature, you never know exactly what weapons you’ll find on each playthrough. Luckily, every weapon has its strengths and can be extremely effective in skilled hands.
Like its spiritual predecessor, Returnal, each weapon in Saros has two modes: primary fire and alternate fire. There are 19 main weapons scattered throughout the game. Additionally, players can access a powerful Power Attack, and during Arjun’s journey in Carcosa, there are four different ones to unlock.
The weapon rankings below are based on how deadly and satisfying they feel to use. But keep in mind, every weapon is a solid choice, and there are no truly bad options. Upgrading each weapon’s attributes in the Armor Matrix makes them even more effective, which should influence your choices.
Saros: Top Main Weapons List
There are 19 main weapons to find in Saros as you explore Carcosa. You start with simpler options like handcannons, rifles, and shotguns, but stronger and more unique weapons become available in the mid-game. Here’s how they rank from top to bottom:
| Tier | Weapons |
|---|---|
| S-Tier | Onslaught Rifle, Bifurcator Crossbow, Reaping Chakram |
| A-Tier | Ricochet Handcannon, Smart Rifle, Annihilator Shotgun, Repeater Crossbow, Myriad Chakram |
| B-Tier | Eruptor Handcannon, Tactical Rifle, Horde Shotgun, Imactor Crossbow |
| C-Tier | Marksman Handcannon, Stalwart Shotgun, Ripsaw Chakram |
The Onslaught Rifle is my go-to weapon during most playthroughs. It’s reliable and versatile, dealing consistent damage, offering a precise targeting mode with its secondary fire, and featuring a very smooth reload. It’s accessible early and is especially deadly against bosses like The Prophet.
Next on my list is the Bifurcator Crossbow, which is the deadliest crossbow in Saros. Both of its attacks have homing capabilities, making it nearly impossible to miss shots. The Reaping Chakram is also highly effective, especially against groups of enemies, thanks to its alternate fire that creates a forcefield to shred enemies nearby.
The lower-tier weapons like the Marksman Handcannon, Stalwart Shotgun, and Ripsaw Chakram can still work, but they require more precision and careful aiming. For example, the Marksman Handcannon deals huge damage when charged but is best against single targets, demanding good aiming skills.
Saros: Top Power Weapons List
In Saros, power weapons are also a strong choice, and there are only four options. The Dispiritor is generally considered the weakest among them because it doesn’t deal as much immediate damage compared to Prominence or Nova Lance, which are more powerful and versatile.
| Tier | Weapons |
|---|---|
| S-Tier | Prominence |
| A-Tier | Nova Lance |
| B-Tier | Illumine |
| C-Tier | Dispiritor |
From my experience, Prominence and Nova Lance are the most useful because of their wide damage radius and ricochet effects, allowing them to take out multiple enemies or deal heavy damage to bosses and strong enemies.
Overall, each weapon has its place, and upgrading attributes in the Armor Matrix enhances their effectiveness. Keep experimenting to find what best suits your playstyle and the challenges you face.
