The Sol System in Warframe is constantly evolving. With regular updates and dynamic systems like Fissures, players can always find something exciting to engage with. One such addition is the Razorback Armada, a special event that introduces a new boss encounter that players can initiate.
To battle the Razorback army, you’ll need Razorback Ciphers, a new consumable item that can only be crafted during this event. This guide will explain how the Razorback Armada event works, the process for crafting Razorback Ciphers, where to locate Cryptographic Alu, and provide an overview of the Razorback combat mechanics.
What is Razorback Armada?
Once the Corpus achieve a significant number of Invasion victories, the Razorback Armada event activates, adding a temporary boss fight that players can access by crafting Razorback Ciphers. This event typically occurs every three months and lasts for four days.
When the Razorback Armada arrives at a local relay, Lotus provides you with the schematics to craft a Razorback Cipher. This unique item requires Cryptographic Alu, which is a resource obtained exclusively during this event. Gather enough Alu to create a Cipher and then venture forth to battle the armada.
Successfully defeating your first three Razorbacks grants you an Orokin Catalyst and 200,000 Credits. Subsequent victories yield loot from the Razorback’s drop table, including the 120% Puncture mod set, elemental/status hybrid mods for Archwing, and parts for the Gorgon Wraith.
How to Craft Razorback Ciphers
Each encounter with the Razorback requires a Razorback Cipher, which you must craft in advance. When you log in to the game, Lotus will automatically send you the crafting blueprints for this item. Your only task is to create it.
Requirements to Craft a Razorback Cipher |
|
---|---|
1,500 Polymer Bundle |
3 Gallium |
4 Cryptographic Alu |

Credit Cost: 1,250 |
Crafting Time: 60 Seconds |
After crafting a Razorback Cipher, make sure to equip it in your Gear wheel from the arsenal to begin the mission. Defeating the Razorback will consume your Cipher, so you’ll need to craft another to participate in additional fights.
How to Obtain Cryptographic Alu
Cryptographic Alu drops from Corpus Archwing enemies during the Razorback Armada event. These foes can be found on Archwing mission nodes that orbit Jupiter and Neptune.
If you have unlocked Railjack, you can also hunt these enemies in any Corpus-owned Proxima regions, such as Venus, Neptune, Pluto, and the Veil Proxima.
Defeating any Corpus Archwing unit grants a small chance of receiving this resource. You can enhance your odds with Resource Drop Chance boosters and Warframe or Archwing abilities that improve drop rates. Furthermore, Cryptographic Alu benefits from Resource Boosters, and interestingly, the Resourceful Retriever mod for companions also affects its gain. Even if you don’t have active companions in Archwing, Resourceful Retriever remains effective.
The Best Cryptographic Alu Farming Method
If you want to quickly gather Cryptographic Alu, Salacia on Neptune is your best option. This mobile defense mission has an unusually high enemy density for Archwing, causing waves of Corpus units to spawn while you defend a satellite. Using an Amesha Warframe will keep you safe throughout the encounter.
No other farming method can match Salacia’s efficiency on the Steel Path or even on standard difficulty. If mobile defense isn’t your style, the next best choice is Exterminate Railjack missions in Corpus territory. Calabash in Veil Proxima is the ideal location for this. If you’re new to Railjack, you can begin with Bifrost Echo on Venus.
Guide to the Razorback Boss
It’s essential to have the Razorback Cipher equipped in your Gear wheel to start the mission.
We recommend crafting multiple Ciphers; bringing at least 20 is advisable.
The Razorback mission is similar to the Jackal boss fight on Venus, though its mechanics differ significantly and place more emphasis on hacking. To enter the boss arena, use your Razorback Cipher to unlock the door. Once you step inside, the battle begins.
Initially, the Razorback is immune to damage and will spawn additional enemies throughout the fight. To make the boss vulnerable, you must hack terminals located on the upper level of the arena. You’ll find two balconies across from each other. Hacking both will spawn a Bursa on each side. Eliminate the Bursas and then hack them.
Doing this turns the Bursas into allies, redirecting their fire toward the Razorback. This will leave the Razorback exposed for a few seconds, allowing you to deal damage. Repeat this process until you’ve depleted 25% of its health and continue until you defeat it. You’ll receive your rewards upon extraction with your squad.
