A 2024 Ubisoft action-adventure game recently added to the PS Plus Extra lineup is already causing debate among PS5 users. Despite receiving over a dozen award nominations, the launch of Star Wars Outlaws didn’t go as planned, leading to division within the PS Plus community.
In 2024, Star Wars Outlaws debuted with a Metacritic score of 75 out of 100 and failed to meet Ubisoft’s sales expectations. Critics pointed out issues with stealth mechanics, repetitive gameplay, and technical bugs at launch.
Now, with the game available on PS Plus, the reactions are just as mixed. A popular discussion on the PS Plus subreddit features a user claiming that Star Wars Outlaws “didn’t deserve the hate it received.” The thread quickly amassed over 200 comments, with players debating both praises and criticisms.
One top comment notes, “You’re playing the version after all the updates, and you didn’t buy it at full price.” Another player chimed in, “I played during lunch, paid full price, and surprisingly, I didn’t encounter any major bugs.”
Even those playing for free are divided on the game. One critic describes the story as “bad at worst, completely uninteresting at best,” adding, “The gameplay felt mediocre — a stealth game trying to be an action game, but neither aspect is very good.” Another shared, “I played a few hours, and the controls and interface feel a bit awkward — almost clunky. I’ll give it another shot tomorrow, but honestly, it’s just plain boring.”
Conversely, some believe the game is worth playing, especially for Star Wars fans. One user remarked, “It’s a really fun game for everyone, and if you love Star Wars, you shouldn’t miss it.”
