The Fortnite Star Destroyer has arrived in the Galactic Battle season, bringing a massive threat to anyone caught in its powerful Turbolaser’s range. Due to its enormous scale and destructive potential, only one Star Destroyer can be active in a match, so you need to be quick if you want to take control of it. Here’s how to get the Star Destroyer in Fortnite and unleash its Turbolaser on the island below.
Have you grabbed the free Fortnite First Order Stormtrooper skin by linking your Epic and MyDisney accounts? If you haven’t, we’ve got all the info you need.
How to Obtain the Star Destroyer in Fortnite
To get the Star Destroyer in Fortnite, wait until the start of the second storm phase and look for an icon on your map. This icon can appear in various locations, so don’t assume it will be in the same spot each time. You’ll also see a notification that reads “Star Destroyer Portal is open!” along with a marker directing you to its location.
Once you reach the marked location, a rift gate will appear, and the first player to step through will be taken aboard the Fortnite Star Destroyer, along with any teammates, depending on your game mode. The rift gate will then close, so you need to hurry and be the first to get there if you want to rain destruction from above using the Turbolaser.
How to Use the Turbolaser on the Fortnite Star Destroyer
Once you’re aboard the Star Destroyer in Fortnite, you’ll have a bird’s-eye view of the island and can aim the Turbolaser using a reticle. The Turbolaser has unlimited ammo and a two-second cooldown between shots, can scan for up to 25 players below, and depending on team size, the damage it inflicts varies:
- Solo = 90 damage
- Duos = 72 damage
- Trios = 54 damage
- Squads = 36 damage
The Star Destroyer follows a set path over the island for 90 seconds before the pilot is returned to the ground. If you don’t manage to get on the ship, you should swiftly move out of its flight path because, unlike Fortnite’s X-Wings and TIE Fighters, it cannot be shot down, making any attempt to engage it a waste of time.
Keep an eye out for Star Wars-themed Fortnite characters across the island, as some will offer special story missions.
