Exploring Treasure Groves in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
When it comes to challenges in Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, few features compare to Treasure Groves. These aren’t just tough endgame content; they offer a unique gameplay experience that requires you to prepare more than for other parts of the game.
This guide will help you understand what Treasure Groves are, how to access them, and what to expect when you dive in, whether solo or with friends.
Unlocking Treasure Groves
To start, the earliest you can unlock Treasure Groves is at the end of Chapter 4. You must engage in the Farmer Life, which means you’ll need to plant Treasure Grove Saplings and wait for them to grow before you can enter a Grove.
The cool part? You’re in charge of growing these Treasure Groves yourself. It adds an interesting twist to the optional dungeon elements commonly found in RPGs!
Finding Treasure Grove Saplings
You have two main ways to acquire Treasure Grove Saplings in the game. The first method is to get them as rewards for defeating Mimics.
How to Obtain the Saplings
Mimics can be spotted throughout Ginormosia. They’re not particularly rare enemies and have an Area Encounter tag, which makes finding them easier.
Tip: From our experience, acquiring the Sapling can be a bit tricky. We suggest leveling up an area to boost the chances of receiving one as a drop.
Another option is to purchase Treasure Grove Saplings from the Traveling Merchants, who are also found in Ginormosia. Availability is random, so ranking up an area could help improve your odds.
You can locate Traveling Merchants by looking for backpack icons at campfires. They appear at these locations periodically, so if you don’t see one right away, don’t worry; they’ll show up eventually.
Planting the Saplings
Once you obtain your first Treasure Grove Sapling and head back to your Base Camp, you should receive a tutorial on how to plant it. Just find a spot on your farm, plant it, and you’ll have your very own Treasure Grove!
What to Expect in Treasure Groves
Treasure Groves provide a unique and layered experience. Each Grove has a grid-based map, representing different stages that lead you deeper into the game’s history.
As you venture deeper, the encounters will become increasingly challenging. Starting with the initial stages can be a smart strategy unless you’ve powered up your character significantly.
Inside the Groves, you’ll face monsters as well as gathering tasks related to all three main resource types. So, it’s wise to enter with at least one Combat Life unlocked, along with skills in Woodcutting, Angling, and Mining.
Advancing Through the Groves
If you ever find yourself stuck at a particular level—especially in the tougher final stages—don’t hesitate to exit the Treasure Grove.
A key strategy is to develop your battle skills and gathering abilities; the better equipped you are, the better your chances of making it through. Craft your gear and consider bringing along friends with diverse skill sets to enhance your team.
Completing a Treasure Grove rewards you with a Goddess Fruit. These valuable items can be exchanged at Marco’s Shop back in Base Camp. The Fruit Exchange section offers plenty of impressive items.
Additionally, Treasure Groves are a great way to grind for resources while enjoying the adventure they have to offer. Happy exploring!
