Overview of Ritual in Path of Exile 2
Ritual offers players a unique endgame mechanic within Path of Exile 2. When executed effectively, it presents a rewarding method for earning currency without requiring extensive preparation. The aim of Ritual is to gather Omens, Divine Orbs, sought-after Unique items, and opportunities to obtain An Audience with the King. While it may not match the reliability of Breach farming, it remains a highly lucrative option that’s simpler to engage with.
This guide will introduce you to the fundamentals of Ritual farming, suggest optimal Precursor Tablets, explore the Atlas Tree, and share strategies to maximize your profits.
How to Farm Ritual
A map that incorporates Ritual includes three to four Ritual Altars surrounded by monsters. To activate a Ritual Altar, you must defeat the nearby enemies, which will then trigger the encounter. This revives the surrounding monsters, requiring you to battle them again, all within a circular area that you cannot exit.
By successfully defeating the enemies during the Ritual encounter, you earn Tribute, a special currency exclusive to this mechanic that can be used to purchase a variety of items.
Tip: Keep in mind that any Tribute you accumulate does not carry over to the next map, so it’s wise to use it all before moving on.
You can easily generate Ritual encounters in your maps using Precursor Tablets.
Types of Ritual Altars
There are several kinds of Ritual Altars, each featuring distinct mechanics.
Ritual Type | Mechanic |
---|---|
Contaminated Ritual | Blood waves that periodically damage and knock you backward. |
Infested Ritual | A massive tornado that continuously pursues you, dealing significant damage. |
Sapping Ritual | Purple smoke that impairs your movement. |
Smothered Ritual | Chaos Damage orbs that follow you; CI characters avoid damage from them. |
Tainted Ritual | Explosive orbs on the ground that deal significant Chaos Damage when walked over. CI characters resist this damage. |
Earning Tribute
To purchase items from the Ritual, you need to gather Tribute. Conquering foes within a Ritual Altar grants you this currency. Factors such as Pack Size, Monster Rarity, and Delirium can influence the amount of Tribute you earn, making it important to invest in these mechanics while farming.
Utilizing Favors
After finishing a Ritual encounter, interact with a cleared Ritual Altar or the icon in the lower-right corner of your screen to access the Favors menu, which displays all available items for purchase. Rare items, such as Divine Orbs and T0 Uniques, demand more Tribute than common offerings.
Note: You must clear all Ritual Altars in the map to view the complete selection of items.
Within the Favors menu, there are three ways to utilize your Tribute:
Option | Description |
---|---|
Purchase | Click on an item to buy it, as long as you have enough Tribute. |
Reroll | Click the dice icon in the top-right to reroll the available rewards. |
Defer | Select the ‘Defer Item’ option to save an item for future Rituals at a lower price. |
Strategy: To maximize your gains from Ritual, it’s essential to have a solid deferral strategy.
Atlas Passive Tree
To optimize your Ritual farming, ensure that you allocate all eight Ritual Passive Points. This requires defeating the King of the Mists four times, earning you two Passive Points for each encounter. Don’t forget to allocate any unspent points before attempting the fight again; otherwise, you’ll miss out on extra rewards.
You can spend your Passive Points on nodes that enhance your Ritual profits, such as:
Ritual Passive Point | Description |
---|---|
Ominous Portents | Grants a 50% increased chance of obtaining Omens, which can be very valuable. |
He Approaches | Offers a 50% chance of acquiring An Audience with the King, increasing your overall profit. |
Tempting Offers | Allows for an additional reroll of Favors at a reduced Tribute cost. |
Promised Devotion | Lets you defer items at half the usual cost, making them available sooner. |
In your Atlas Tree, prioritize anything that enhances Pack Size, improves Precursor Tablet effects, or increases monster rarity.
Valuable Loot
Rituals can yield a wealth of high-value items, including An Audience with the King, raw Divine Orbs, T0 Uniques, and prized Omens. Keep in mind that valuable Omens are typically exclusive to Level 80 zones, so aim to run T16 Waystones if your build can handle them.
Recommended Precursor Tablets
To effectively farm Ritual, consider investing in the following Precursor Tablets:
- Reduced Tribute cost for rerolling Favors.
- An extra reroll for Favors at Ritual Altars.
- Enhanced chances for Omens to appear in your Ritual Favors.
Remember: Precursor Tablets stack. For instance, a four-Tower setup with two ‘Additional Rerolls’ and two ‘Reduced Tribute Cost’ tablets can be especially profitable.
How to Defer
Deferring items is a crucial aspect of Ritual farming. Given the limited amount of Tribute per map, it’s important to spend wisely. Avoid purchasing a high-value item on your first pass, as this may exhaust your Tribute, limiting your reroll options.
Instead, reroll until you find something valuable, like An Audience with the King. Defer it rather than buying it outright, and continue rerolling. When the deferred item reappears in the next Ritual, you can defer it again or buy it once you have enough Tribute left.
Prioritize rerolling Favors, as this ensures you don’t miss any valuable items that might become available.
