Kina is one of the first characters you recruit in Fantasian Neo Dimension, and understanding her identity is central to her character development. When it is revealed that she is actually the daughter of royalty, she battles with her true sense of family and belonging.
This is where the Kina and Owen quest becomes important. Seeking guidance, she turns to the Ribbidons for help. However, like everything else in Act 2, this quest comes with its own set of challenges, including a tough boss battle and several unique game mechanics. Let’s help Kina find the answers she craves.
How to Start the Kina and Owen Quest
To convey her feelings about her newfound lineage to Owen, Kina needs to join your party. Therefore, you must complete the Through the Wormhole quest first, where you rescue both Kina and Cheryl.
Tip: If you speak with both Owen and Sebastian before rescuing Kina and Cheryl, you can earn a unique jewel from each of them.
Once you’ve saved Kina, return to Valrika’s Laboratory, where she will kick off the Kina and Owen Quest. This quest is level 44, so ensure your characters are sufficiently leveled up before diving in.
Finding the Ribbidons
Worried about how to share her news with Owen, Kina asks Leo to assist her in finding the Ribbidons from her childhood in the Southern Forest. She only remembers a song they used to sing, but coincidentally, Cheryl knows it too. Cheryl has a music box that contains the complete melody and suggests visiting the palace to retrieve it.
Tip: Although there isn’t much to do here, you can find a chest behind the folding screen containing an Elixir.
Once you’ve picked up the music box, head to the Southern Forest. It’s best to warp directly to Kina’s house and head toward the Mecha Infestation area. After exploring for a while, you will spot a Ribbidon sprinting by. Follow it deeper into the Southern Forest until you reach a brand-new area.
Make sure to save your game and heal at the Save Point. Before the boss fight begins, you’ll have the chance to converse with some philosophical Ribbidons. After speaking with the main Ribbidon, a cutscene will play out, introducing you to their leader, Ribbidon Rex.
True to their words, wisdom comes from action, and they’ll challenge you to a battle once the conversation is done. This is your last opportunity to heal, prepare, and save your progress—very considerate of them!
Battling Ribbidon Rex
Ribbidon Rex is a formidable boss, testing Kina’s determination through a series of questions during the battle that can alter the fight. The questions can come in different sequences, making each encounter unique.
To help you navigate this challenge, we have compiled a list of possible questions and their effects:

With so many variations to consider, this battle allows you to tailor your approach to suit your style. After asking their final question, Ribbidon Rex will return with 15,000 HP but will stop questioning, making this next phase more straightforward.
Note: For the Acorn and Rock question, you won’t gain the Regen effect if you have an active Barrier.
How to Beat Ribbidon Rex
Kina must demonstrate her strength in this battle to get the answers she seeks. Although there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy, it’s essential that Kina remains in your party. Leo is a strong choice due to his high attack power, while Ez can come in to provide valuable buffs. Also, consider swapping in Valrika for Arrow Rain, as it inflicts significant damage.
Tip: Ribbidon Rex takes less damage from physical attacks, so focus on using elemental strikes where possible.
Despite your tactical choices, the boss remains tough. Kina’s healing abilities are invaluable during this fight. One particularly damaging move is Slap Combo, where the boss can strike a single character multiple times, likely taking them out unless you have Zinikr on your team.
Understanding the questions they ask allows you to equip the right jewels to counteract their effects, simplifying the fight somewhat. If you manage your defenses and healing well, the first phase should be manageable.
After Ribbidon Rex’s questioning concludes, they return with 15,000 HP. They will no longer ask questions, but they will summon smaller Ribbidons and have rock shards circling around them that can block poorly-timed attacks. For this phase, try the following strategy:
Choose a character like Cheryl or Tan and utilize their Tension skill. For Cheryl, activate Double Charge followed by Attack Up before using Tension. For Tan, use Desperation, Mystery Potion, and Attack Up before his Tension. With these boosts in place, you can potentially defeat the boss in one hit without worrying about the rocks.
Note: The boss has a devastating attack where they can drop an entire cruise ship on the party, which can wipe out your team if they aren’t at full health with boosted defenses. It’s best to defeat Ribbidon Rex before they get the chance to use this move.
Once Ribbidon Rex is satisfied with Kina’s display of strength, they reveal that she now has the answers she needs and can pursue her own path. When she returns to Owen, Cheryl shares the news, telling him that she is still proud to be his daughter. Her family has expanded, not changed. Perhaps Ribbidon Rex truly shared their wisdom with her after all.
