When considering the challenges posed by today’s Connections puzzle, you might realize that some hints are essential to transition from understanding to solving. Today’s puzzle seemed moderately difficult, presenting just enough of a challenge without leaving me completely stuck. It’s a bit of a balancing act, but now I have all the insights needed to help you tackle this puzzle efficiently and accurately.
If you’re looking to switch things up with a different puzzle, I recommend trying the NYT’s Wordle. It plays similarly to Connections, but requires you to assemble letters rather than words. By placing enough letters correctly, you can deduce the target word. The quicker you solve it, the better your score will be, giving you an edge over those who solve it on their last try. If luck is on your side, you may even crack the puzzle in just a few guesses!
Today’s Connections Category Hints
JANUARY 24 #594
In today’s puzzle, expect some misdirection; the words might not share similar meanings, but rather connect in other unexpected ways. This can lead to a bit of confusion, yet players shouldn’t fret as long as they’re attentive. I stumbled on one specific word, but once I navigated past it, the rest of the puzzle flowed more smoothly.
- One category revolves around actions you take when you’re bothered by something.
- Another category focuses on four situations that might not always be appropriate.
- There’s also a category dedicated to habitual actions.
- Finally, one category features four words that follow a word typically associated with repairing something.
If you still feel you need more hints, more are on the way. Sometimes, the provided hints just aren’t enough, so let’s list the category names.
Today’s Connections Answers
JANUARY 24 #594
For today’s Connections, you might initially find yourself stuck. Categories can have words that link creatively rather than obviously. Here’s how everything breaks down:
Yellow Category Answers:
- CONTEMPLATE includes:
- BROOD
- MUSE
- PONDER
- REFLECT
This is where I found myself stumped at first. Seeing MUSE and PONDER made me think I was on the right track, yet I struggled with differentiating between BROOD, REFLECT, and STARE. Eventually, I figured out that STARE was the outlier, which only became clear after some contemplation, but at the time, it felt logical.
Green Category Answers:
- RUDE THINGS TO DO includes:
- INTERRUPT
- LITTER
- POINT
- STARE
After finishing the previous category, this one became easier. By returning to it, some options were eliminated, making it clearer. All the words here feel quite disrespectful, which was amusing once I realized the category name.
Blue Category Answers:
- VOCATION includes:
- CRAFT
- LINE
- TRADE
- WORK
This was another category I cracked pretty quickly. I had high confidence in CRAFT, TRADE, and WORK fitting together, but I hesitated on LINE until I finally made my guess, which turned out to be correct.
Purple Category Answers:
- ___PATCH includes:
- CABBAGE
- NICOTINE
- ROUGH
- SOUL
This last category was a challenge that I tackled last. Although I thought CABBAGE and NICOTINE were related, I wasn’t entirely sure. Eventually, I tried out all the words and completed this category, finishing the puzzle with a sense of accomplishment.
