Sintopia emphasizes the importance of organization and careful planning. Neglecting the overworld can cause your Hell Inc. system to become overwhelmed, but spending too much time in Hell can cause your Temple to collapse.
The best layouts in Hell vary based on your goals and the mode you’re playing, but generally, the core structure remains similar. Here’s what you need to know about building and arranging your Hell Inc. system for optimal performance, from basic layouts to reaching specific objectives.
Early Game Basic Hell Layout
When you first enter Hell Inc., zoom out as much as possible to get an overview of the entire area. You may notice pockets of Purgatiles or Corruptiles, which you can use to your advantage by building paths along them or avoiding them if you want to prevent earning extra Sin Points.
- Purgatiles: When Souls walk along these paths, you earn Purgadollars.
- Corruptiles: Souls moving on these paths gain 1 Sin Point for the associated Sin.
Begin with essential items like:
- At least two Omnisin Doctors (more later if possible)
- Rest Rooms or Break Rooms near each section with Imp Roads leading to them
- Soul Dispatchers
- Paths and Waiting Lines
- At least one Waiting Booth in each section
- At least two Hellpet Shows to start with, leaving enough space for expansion
Start your layout by placing Omnisin Doctor buildings. These help you earn Purgadollars and cleanse the sins of non-Deviant Souls. Create a small path leading from a Soul Dispatcher to a Waiting Booth and a long, winding queue.
The Soul Dispatcher directs different types of Souls along their routes:
- Regular Souls go through the Omnisin Doctors for cleansing.
- Souls with low Sin who can become Hearo are sent straight back to the overworld, often via a Hellpet Show.
- Deviant Souls are sent to specialist doctors for specialized treatment.
- Saints are kept in a waiting line loop until their Holy Patience is exhausted, which can be as simple as a loop sending Saints around repeatedly.
Your first Soul Dispatcher should direct Hearo and Saint Status Souls one way, while all other Souls go to the Omnisin Doctors. Later, you will need to direct Deviant Souls to specialist doctors.
When Souls leave the Omnidoctor, they might not yet be cleansed enough for Hearo status. Place another Soul Dispatcher to send Hearo Souls to the exit or back to the start if they need further cleansing.
Your system to sort Souls at the beginning might look like this:
- Souls needing cleansing go to the Omnisin Doctors.
- Souls ready for the overworld exit go directly back up.
- Deviant Souls are routed to specialized doctors.
- Saints are placed in a waiting loop until their patience runs out.
Once your basic Sin-cleansing system is built, consider investing in specialist doctors, like the Pridologist or Gluttologist. These treat specific sins that regular Omnisin Doctors cannot handle. Create a route for Deviant Souls to visit their respective specialists and then decide whether they are cleansed for the overworld or need to be sent back for more treatment.
Later, if you are low on Faithcoins, build Hellpet Shows near the end of Souls’ journey back to the overworld. Place a few, each with its own Waiting Booth and Waiting Line, to handle Saints and Hearo Souls efficiently. These sections can be quite busy, so consider adding looping waiting lines to manage the flow.
Your layout should also allow for easy addition of more buildings of the same type without demolishing existing structures. Demolitions should be avoided since you don’t get a full refund. Focus on generating Purgadollars and processing Souls efficiently to unlock upgrades and new buildings as your system grows.
