In Pokémon battles, a big part of your strategy is choosing what items your Pokémon will hold during combat. Some items are used once and then consumed, while others remain equipped indefinitely. Each item has its own unique effect.
Although many held items exist across Pokémon games, Pokémon Champions limits the number of items you can carry. Still, some items stand out as the best options, making it important to pick the right ones. Here’s a list of the top held items in Pokémon Champions.
Complete Pokémon Champions Held Item Tier List
There are over 40 held items available in Pokémon Champions. We’ve ranked each based on how useful, effective, and versatile they are.
Items in the S-tier are essential for every team. A-tier items are very good but not mandatory. B-tier items are situational, and C-tier items are too specific or less useful—you mostly want to avoid them unless a special situation calls for it.
Note: Mega Stones are excluded from this list since they tie directly to Mega Evolutions and are limited to specific Pokémon.
S Tier
Quick Claw:
This item can turn the tide of a match. It sometimes lets your Pokémon act before your opponent’s, which can be a game-changer. Although it doesn’t work every time, when it activates, it surprises your opponent and provides a big advantage.
Focus Sash:
Prevents your Pokémon from being knocked out by a single hit, especially a one-hit KO move. It keeps them alive just long enough for you to set up or score a knockout.
Choice Scarf:
Most often, this item guarantees your Pokémon will attack first thanks to a 50% increase in speed. Lock into a move and take out your opponent before they can respond.
Leftovers:
A classic recovery item that heals a small amount of HP at the end of each turn. It’s very helpful for Pokémon that can sustain damage.
A Tier
Sitrus Berry:
Restores HP after taking damage. It’s not as universal as the S-tier items but still very useful for survivability.
Lum Berry:
Cures status conditions once. Many Pokémon face various statuses, so this berry can be a lifesaver in crucial moments.
White Herb:
Resets lowered stats, which can turn a losing situation into a win. It’s effective but single-use.
Bright Powder:
Increases your Pokémon’s ability to avoid attacks by making moves less accurate. It’s a good sneaky option to reduce damage.
King’s Rock:
Has a 10% chance to cause your opponent to flinch, preventing their turn and giving you an opportunity to attack again.
B- Tier
Mental Herb:
Prevents your Pokémon from being affected by an opponent’s move that causes disable or other status conditions. Useful if your Pokémon struggles with certain moves.
Shell Bell:
Restores a fraction of the damage dealt to opponents. Best used by Pokémon that hit often with moves suitable for this item.
Scope Lens:
Boosts your Pokémon’s critical hit chance by one stage. It’s situational but can pay off if luck is on your side.
Oran Berry:
Restores HP when your Pokémon drops to half or less. Simple but effective for durability.
Status Ailment Berries (Persim, Aspear, Rawst, etc.):
Cure specific status conditions like paralysis, freeze, burn, etc. Handy for versatility in certain matchups.
C Tier
Items here are too situational or less effective overall. They may boost specific types of moves but are often overshadowed by better options. Examples include:
- Spell Tag
- Metal Coat
- Sharp Beak
- Magnet
- Black Belt
- Black Glasses
- Silver Powder
- Miracle Seed
- Hard Stone
- Mystic Water
- Silk Scarf
- Charcoal
- Dragon Fang
- Fairy Feather
- Soft Sand
- Poison Barb
- Never-Melt Ice
- Focus Band
- Light Ball
- Twisted Spoon
Similarly, berries like Leppa, Occa, Shuca, Yache, Roselike, Chilan, Babiri, Haban, Charti, Tanga, Payapa, Kenia, Chople, Rindo, Wacan, Colbur, Kasib, Coba, and Passho are mainly useful only in specific scenarios.
Choosing the right items can make a big difference in your Pokémon Champions battles. Prioritize high-impact, versatile items for your main team members, and use situational items as needed to counter specific threats.
