How To Complete The Desert Fragment Puzzle in Crimson Desert

Crimson Desert is full of hidden secrets you might discover along your path. These range from small Ancient Ruins spread across different regions to unique spires that unlock access to the Abyss. Be ready for plenty of puzzle-solving, especially when you’re not engaged in combat.

Many of the most detailed puzzles are located on floating island chains. One such puzzle, Desert Fragment, becomes available after you complete the Spire of Frost and the Passage of Malice Abyss puzzle. Here’s a complete guide on how to finish the Desert Fragment and what rewards you’ll gain.

Desert Fragment Solution

Conceptually, the Desert Fragment puzzle isn’t too complicated. Your main task is to redirect three laser beams so they hit three yellow nodes. The challenge lies in rotating nine cubes, which can change the beam directions, to guide the lasers correctly.

First, activate the Abyss Gate near the entrance and step into the main chamber. Use your Axiom Force on the switch in front of you to take control of the nine floating cubes above. Your goal is to guide the three blue lasers, navigating them through this mini-maze, so they reach the top nodes of a diamond shape.

To make things clearer, focus on activating one node at a time, beginning with the leftmost one. Also, label the cubes from one to nine from left to right, using the reference image as a guide.

Left Laser Solution

Once you control the cubes, select Cube 9 by using the Right and Left Trigger buttons until it glows blue, indicating it’s the active cube for rotation. Rotate Cube 9 until the laser beam bounces off it toward Cube 8. This bounce sends the laser toward Cube 2, which you can then rotate to direct the laser into the yellow node positioned above it. Use the reference picture to ensure your adjustments match the correct setup.

Middle Laser Solution

Next, activate the middle laser path. Rotate Cube 1 so the beam crosses the gap to Cube 3. Then, rotate Cube 3 until the laser hits Cube 5 to its right. Rotate Cube 5 until the laser reaches the middle node, completing that part of the puzzle. Refer to the reference image if you need help visualizing the correct position.

Right Laser Solution

Finally, for the right laser path, rotate Cube 6 until the laser fires toward Cube 7. Rotate Cube 7 to guide the beam into Cube 4. Adjust Cube 4 until it points to the right node, activating it and completing the puzzle. This will also turn on a circular switch on the ground beneath, signaling the end of this step.

After finishing the puzzle, make your way to the opposite side of the island where the circular switch is located. Crouch on the switch and perform a Force Palm strike to activate it and complete the challenge. A new Abyss Artifact will appear at the altar ahead.

Behind the altar, you’ll find a triangular gate. Running through this gate will spawn a podium that can be activated with Axiom Force. Doing so opens a new path leading to the next Abyss island, continuing your journey through Crimson Desert’s mysteries.
