Official cosmetics have finally been added to Repo. After years of asking the developers to include features similar to those found in modded Repo games, they’ve now delivered. Earning these goodies requires effort, but it’s well worth it and adds to the enjoyment.
You unlock Repo cosmetics by finding boxes scattered across each map. These boxes spawn randomly, so you may not find one on every map. They are not ordinary boxes; they have a health bar and an activation button like the cart, making them recognizable.
Boxes come in four colors and sizes that indicate their rarity and the likelihood of containing a cosmetic item. The rarity also affects the probability of finding one in each map. Your chances improve each time you don’t find a box during a run.
The box colors, sizes, and rarities are:
– Green (small) — common
– Blue (medium) — uncommon
– Purple (large) — rare
– Orange (extra large) — epic
As you complete more levels, you’ll encounter more boxes, with higher rarity chances increasing each time. Rarer boxes tend to include more elaborate designs, such as the burger head or broken robot head, while common crates typically hold basic items like patterns or eye details.
To get your cosmetics, you need to extract the box as you would any valuable item. Boxes are fragile, but you can heal them by clicking the front button, using your health. Be cautious not to let the box break or explode before placing it in the extraction point.
Once extracted, the box turns into a token. You can spend these tokens at a shop with a new machine found in the game. Insert a token into the machine, and your semibot will be lifted into the air, revealing a random cosmetic item.
All cosmetics can then be accessed in the Customize section of the menu when you press escape or at the start screen before creating a lobby. There are over 500 different pieces to unlock, with sections dedicated to the head, body, arms, and legs. Each category is further divided, such as right leg, left leg, overlays, and more, allowing for nearly endless customization options for your semibot.
