Like the first game in the series, Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse has multiple endings you can discover. However, there is one true ending that you need to figure out to see the full story, and it’s the most challenging puzzle in the game.
If you think you’ve already unlocked the true ending from the first game, be warned — this one is much harder. Props to anyone who solves it alone, but if you’re here, you might be ready to give up, and that’s okay.
Progress to Ending 5
Before unlocking the sixth and final ending, you must reach the fifth ending in the ‘Conclusion’ chapter, where Yuza and friends are saying goodbye to Sato on the beach.
Note: You don’t need to have completed endings 1-5 to get this. You won’t have the second or third endings yet either. Usually, you’ll reach this point by playing the game normally and following the plan outlined in the ‘We Need A Plan’ chapter.
At this point, three chapters will still be active, indicating unfinished business:
- Conclusion (Yuza Minakuchi Route)
- Point of Contact (Sato Shiranami Route)
- Possessions (Arnav Barnum Route)
Also, the Underwater Gathering chapter might still be available if it’s not maxed out, but that’s not important right now.
In both the ‘Conclusion’ and ‘Point of Contact’ chapters, you’ll notice conversations with options that are blank — these need to be triggered. Here’s how to do that.
How to trigger the fifth ending
During the ‘We Need A Plan’ chapter, keep progressing naturally until you are ready to move forward. You should see these chapters still marked as incomplete:
- Conclusion (Yuza Route)
- Point of Contact (Sato Route)
- Possessions (Arnav Route)
In the ‘Point of Contact’ chapter, once you begin talking with Yumeko, turn around and interact with the Kameshi-maru Keychain on the ground. This action will allow you to continue chatting with Yumeko, which then unlocks a previously missing dialogue option to nominate Tsukasa instead of Sato as the point of contact.
How to get the Tamatebako
Saving Sato frees up a new chapter called ‘Claim’. At the lighthouse, you need to persuade Avi to give you the tamatebako by choosing these responses:
- Admit.
- Please! I need it!
- Tell the truth.
Next, go to the Minakuchi Residence. You’ll need to perform a specific step before progressing: back in the ‘Claim’ chapter, after watching the scene, go into the game menu, select “Return to Title,” then re-enter. When you do, Sobae the mermaid won’t speak initially. To get her to talk, click on her four times with at least three seconds between each click, and she will turn around.
Once she faces you, tell her the correct answer: Yuza. She will then transfer the mermaid flesh to the tamatebako on the evening of August 7.
How to recall the Mermaid Memory
Load a save file at the very bottom—usually Slot 5—where a mysterious blurred-out save exists. Overwrite it just to be safe. Play this save, and a scene will reveal a clue about Yuza’s mother’s scale.
How to get the scale’s message
Return to Sato in the Minakuchi Residence during the ‘Claim’ chapter. If you’re already there, perfect. If not, you can resume from this point later. Interact with the Altar Shelf on the left to retrieve the scale. Then, choose ‘Put it in the tamatebako.’
How to call Sobae
After retrieving the scale, open the chat log from your menu. It contains a secret message that explains the call signals Mare used for Sobae. To summon her, call her four times, waiting three seconds between each call. The placement of your calls is important.
How to get Mermaid Flesh
Go into the game menu, click ‘Return to Title’ to save your progress, and then select Sobae the mermaid four times with at least three seconds gap. When she turns around, you’ll need to tell her who you are. The correct answer is Yuza. Then, ask her to transfer the mermaid flesh into the tamatebako, which will happen on August 7.
How to save Sato
Back in the ‘Claim’ chapter, after watching the scene, return to the game menu and load your saved progress. When you interact with Sobae, you need to call her four times again, but now, she will speak, and you can make your request. To successfully save Sato, ensure you follow this sequence.
How to unlock the true ending
Return to the game and go to the ‘Story Chart’. Select the ‘Conclusion’ chapter. Proceed until you reach a point where the bottom dialogue option was previously blank. Now, choose ‘Actually…’. Doing this unlocks the true ending for Sato and Yuza, earning you the ‘Legend of the Kameshima Twin Gods’ achievement.
