Horses are one of the riding animals you can pick in Crimson Desert. These quick-moving creatures can be tamed in the wild or bought at stables. Once you meet Herspia and unlock the mount system, you can customize how you travel across the world.
If you want to change your current horse or make some extra money by selling horses to a Horse Fence, keep reading to learn how to tame horses quickly using a simple trick.
Where to Find Wild Horses to Tame
Wild horses are scattered throughout Pywel. They appear in several locations, especially around open fields. The best spot to find wild horses is near the northeastern area of Hernand, just east of the Hills of No Return, south of Drakesfall Gorge. You can also find horses east of Saddlewind Ranch, roaming in the fields.
How to Easily Tame Wild Horses
When you find a small group of wild horses, there are two main methods to tame them:
- Sneak up on the horses and then run them down to jump onto their back and start taming.
- Use treats like sugar cubes or carrots to lure or distract the horses with a tasty snack.
If you don’t have treats, crouch and slowly approach the horse, hiding behind tall grass or bushes to remain unseen. Once you catch their attention, stand up and sprint toward them before they run away, then hold the action button to start taming.
Alternatively, you can use a treat to attract the horse without scaring it away. Open your inventory, select a treat like a carrot, and hold it to bring it close. Slowly approach the horse, then drop the treat on the ground for the horse to eat. While the horse is eating, move beside it and hold the taming button to begin the mini-game.
The fastest way to tame a horse involves holding down the left stick to stay behind the horse’s hindquarters while your stamina drains. As you do this, the horse’s rope meter fills. Keep rotating the camera behind the horse to stay in position. Be careful—if you run out of stamina, you’ll be bucked off and will need to try again.
Registering, Caring for, and Selling Horses
After taming a wild horse, you can register, care for, or sell it. Once tamed, you’ll immediately see your options:
- Register and ride the horse.
- Register and send it to the stable.
- Ride the horse directly.
To register your horse, select the option to do so. It’s important to give your horse attention afterward by equipping gear that boosts its attributes. You can enhance your horse’s stats, such as defense, attack, health regeneration, maximum health, and stamina regeneration, using various equipment like barding, champron, horseshoes, saddles, and stirrups.
You can also buy treats, horse tonics, and supplements from Saddlerys or Stables to improve your horse’s health and abilities. Riding your horse levels it up, increasing its capabilities through five levels of progression. Each level adds specific improvements, such as increased sprint or swimming rank, quick start, double jump, or high jump, depending on the breed.
Selling Your Horse
If you want to sell a horse, you can do so at the Horse Fence. Stealing a horse with a mask equipped, then riding it into a Horse Fence’s stable, allows you to exchange the horse for silver coins—though this method is more for fun than profit. Only unregistered or stolen horses can be sold this way; registered horses linked to your account cannot.
Saddlewind Ranch has a Horse Fence where you can sell stolen horses conveniently.
