Unlike the main Mario games, Yoshi titles tend to be shorter. They are aimed at younger players, with simpler gameplay mechanics, and are often played in quick sessions.
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book follows this tradition, although it offers plenty of collectibles that might keep you busy longer than a quick playthrough.
How Long Does It Take To Beat?
Yoshi And The Mysterious Book isn’t a very long game. Most of what you see will be uncovered during your first run through each level, with little additional content beyond that.
You could complete the entire game in about 20 hours. If you focus solely on rushing to the end without replaying levels, it could take closer to 12-15 hours.
How Long To 100% The Game?
Getting everything in the game is a bigger challenge, but not overly demanding. All major collectibles, like the Smiley Flowers, are available from your first run of each level. Since Yoshi has no new abilities, you can collect them all on your initial playthrough.
If you manage to collect every Smiley Flower in your first run, it adds only a few extra hours—around 30 hours total.
The most time-consuming part is finding all the Discoveries for every creature. While you can complete these in one session, some are missable and may require multiple attempts. Because of that, full 100% completion is estimated to take around 40 hours.
How Many Chapters Are There?
Since the game is styled as a book and takes place inside one, it has neatly contained chapters. There are a total of 12 chapters, which are:
- Chapter 1 – Wildwoods
- Chapter 2 – Mountaintops
- Chapter 3 – Seaside
- Chapter 4 – Settled Valley
- Chapter 5 – Bug Country
- Chapter 6 – Remote Isle
- Chapter 7 – Underground
- Chapter 8 – Tallest Of Trees
- Chapter 9 – Miniworld
- Chapter 10 – Moon
- Chapter 11 – Special Studies
- Chapter 12 – Mr. E’s Challenges
These chapters are unlocked in groups of three. Once unlocked, they can be played in any order, with the last two being bonus chapters that don’t follow the main story.
