A long-standing developer and publisher unexpectedly made their 2024 PS5 action shooter, Blindfire, available as a free download. Double Eleven released the game for free through the PlayStation Store, aiming to give players across all platforms a chance to experience their creation firsthand.
In brief, Blindfire didn’t perform well commercially. The game entered early access in 2024 but failed to gather an audience. Unlike Sony’s decision to shut down Concord, Double Eleven has chosen to stand by its game. They released one final update and decided to keep the servers live “indefinitely,” offering the game for free.
“We believe games are a form of art and should be preserved,” Double Eleven stated. “We refuse to simply abandon what we’ve built because things didn’t go perfectly. We’re keeping it alive because we’re proud of it. No ads or marketing efforts here—just a gift for those interested in exploring what we created.”

For newcomers, Blindfire immerses players in a neon-lit underground world. The unique challenge is that the lights are off, requiring players to rely on creativity and keen senses to defeat enemies.
Will you be giving Blindfire a try?
