There are moments when words just aren’t enough—especially when you’re busy exploring, creating, or let’s face it, stirring up trouble in Longvinter. That’s where emotes come into play. Need to express your sarcasm over a sketchy trade? Or maybe you want to show your despair after losing all your gear? Perhaps a well-timed thumbs down would do? Emotes allow you to convey your emotions—be it joy, annoyance, or a touch of passive-aggression—without needing to type a single word.
So, how exactly do you use them? And even more crucial, how can you get your hands on more? If you’re ready to move beyond the basics and truly enhance your in-game expression, you’ve come to the right spot. Let’s explore how to do it because surviving is vital, but having some style is just as important.
How to Emote
To use an emote, simply press ‘G’ to bring up the emote wheel. When the wheel appears, hover over the emote you want and then release ‘G’ to perform it.
In the beginning, you have six basic emotes available: Bow, Come Here, Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, Clapping, and Crying. These give you fundamental ways to show greetings, agreement, disagreement, and other reactions.
How to Acquire More Emotes
If you’re eager to expand your collection of emotes, there are several options available.
Simply navigate to the ‘Shop and Customize’ section from the main lobby screen. There, click on the ‘All Items’ tab and scroll down to find the emotes you can acquire. These can be purchased via the Steam Marketplace or earned through Steam Drops by actively playing the game. If you decide to buy an emote, clicking on it will take you to the Steam Marketplace to complete your purchase.
