Elden Ring Nightreign: Character Stories and Personal Objectives Explained

While the main appeal of Elden Ring Nightreign lies in its co-op gameplay, each of the eight characters features a unique storyline. These narratives unfold through journal entries you can read at Roundtable Hold. Each entry acts like a small chapter in the lives of the Nightfarers, revealing more as you progress. This system adds depth, making the characters feel more real rather than just anonymous “classes.”

Personal Missions: Individual Quests for Every Character

In addition to the overarching journey, each character occasionally embarks on their own missions. These missions may involve fierce solo boss battles or simpler tasks that integrate seamlessly with the co-op gameplay. These quests are known as Remembrances, which you can start directly from your journal. The first one most players will encounter is the Executor’s Remembrance, where you’ll need to locate a bouquet of flowers blessed by the light of Grace and return them to the Priestess at Roundtable Hold. Here’s how to find those Blessed Flowers in Elden Ring Nightreign.

Understanding Personal Objectives

These side quests, referred to as "personal objectives," come with unique mechanics. Since the Executor’s Remembrance appears early on, here’s what you need to know about personal objectives.

To initiate a personal objective, interact with the relevant NPC in the Remembrance section at Roundtable Hold. They’ll show up on your map marked with a yellow exclamation point. Your personal objective will stay active until you either finish it or cancel it. This is the case even if you set off on your adventure but didn’t complete the task; it will still be active upon your return.

It’s important to note that only one member of your party can have an active personal objective during any expedition. This means you may end up waiting longer in matchmaking if others in your group have their objectives set.

To improve your chances of finding a party, consider queuing for several expeditions simultaneously.

Once you’re teamed up and started the expedition, your personal objective should be easy to locate on the map. However, successfully reaching it and completing the mission may prove challenging.

Locating the Flowers for the Priestess

As soon as you spawn, keep an eye out for the orange banner marker on your map, indicating where the Blessed Flowers are located. They typically appear at the same spot every time, although some maps may vary slightly. In my experience, these flowers are usually found along the eastern coastline near Limveld’s northeast corner. Make sure to communicate your objective to your party since Nightreign lacks built-in voice chat; you’ll need to mark it on your map.

Getting there may be easier said than done, depending on your spawn point. Since the Blessed Flowers are close to the map’s edge, they might be outside the safety zone when the rains come down. If you spawn on the east side, a quick dash will suffice; if you’re on the west, you might want to save the objective for another run. But don’t worry if you miss them on the first day—you can always return for the Blessed Flowers on Day Two.

Upon reaching the marked spot, you’ll find a plant adorned with golden flowers at the bottom of a ditch. However, you must defeat the boss first before claiming the flowers.

Defeating the Stray Bloodhound Knight

You have the option to battle the Stray Bloodhound Knight alone or with a group of three. As a precaution, leveling up a couple of times before facing him is advisable. At lower levels, even a single blow could be fatal, particularly if the Knight inflicts Bleeding damage.

Your main strategy should be to study the boss’s movements. The Stray Bloodhound Knight is quick, can teleport, and has sweeping attacks that can catch you off-guard. Maintain your distance while it unleashes combos, and only approach when you see an opening—typically right after it crashes its sword into the ground.

If you’re playing as the Executor, activate your character’s skill to summon a two-handed weapon and stay defensive by holding LB/L1; this will help you dodge most attacks. Don’t hesitate to unleash your Ultimate Art for some burst damage when you get the chance.

If you’re in a trio, the Stray Bloodhound Knight should be a manageable challenge. Surround it and attack diligently until it targets you, then evade until it’s your turn to strike again. Nevertheless, gaining a few levels beforehand is recommended.

Once the Knight’s health is dwindling, approach the flowers and interact with them to receive the Blessed Flowers. You can continue your expedition as you normally would. Importantly, you don’t have to complete all three days or defeat the Nightlord to finish your personal objective. Just ensure the Blessed Flowers are in your inventory by the end of the expedition, regardless of the outcome.

Returning to Roundtable Hold

Win or lose, you’ll be transported back to Roundtable Hold after the expedition. You’ll find the Priestess waiting where you left her. Speak to her and hand over the flowers. She’ll express gratitude and ask that you bring them to the Iron Menial, the Marionette, who is by the training area.

Head outside and converse with the Iron Menial, who will suggest going back to your painting nearby. Walk over, interact with it to sit down, and observe a brief scene where the Executor works on his painting and reflects cryptically. Soon after, you’ll get a notification that a Remembrance Gate has opened.

This marks the completion of your quest and manifests as a glowing pool on the ground, akin to the ones that teleports you to dungeon entrances in the original Elden Ring. Interact with it to finish your Remembrance and return to regular Roundtable Hold.

For your efforts, you’ll receive the Blessed Flowers as a green relic with the following benefits:

  • +3 Dexterity
  • [Executor only] While your Character Skill is active, using the cursed sword restores HP.

This relic offers a substantial Dexterity bonus at this stage and could provide the Executor vital healing, making it a worthwhile asset for your character right away. From there, you can continue playing Elden Ring Nightreign until you unlock the next chapter of the Executor’s Remembrance.
